The Parent Trap is the soundtrack album for the 1961 film of the same name, directed by David Swift and starring Hayley Mills. The soundtrack album for the film was released by Buena Vista Records on June 21, 1961, the same day as the film's premiere. It features 12 songs, including the title song "The Parent Trap" sung by Tommy Sands and Annette Funicello, and "Let's Get Together" sung by Hayley Mills in both roles. The songs were written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, who later became famous for composing the music for Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, and other Disney classics. The score was composed by Paul Smith, who also worked on many Disney films such as Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Sleeping Beauty.

Reception

The soundtrack album received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, who praised the catchy tunes, the clever lyrics, and the charming performances by the singers. The album also sold well, reaching number 8 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1961. The song "Let's Get Together" became a hit single, peaking at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 17 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was later covered by many artists, such as The Partridge Family, The Osmonds, and Lindsay Lohan (who starred in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap).
