So. You're Spider-Man?
Norman Osborn to Peter Parker

"The Parker Luck" is the second episode of Marvel's Disney+ series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. It premiered on January 29, 2025, immediately after the first episode.

Synopsis[]

Peter begins an exclusive internship, but his first day is way more complicated than he expected.

Plot[]

Norman Osborn tells a shocked Peter that he is doing an outreach program for young upstarts and offers an internship at his company. Peter happily accepts, needing to show up the next day. At school, he tells Nico who warns him that Osborn famously has skeletons in his closet and that she doesn't trust him. In contrast, both Pearl and Lonnie are supportive of Peter with the latter referring to him as good luck for their upcoming game that evening.

After school, Peter arrives at Oscorp where he is sent up to the labs to determine where he will be working. He meets kindly Wakandan native Asha, blunt and honest Jeanne Foucault, and overconfident Amadeus Cho. They are working under the cynical Dr. Bentley Wittman who puts them to work. Despite Peter wanting to work in robotics, he ends up being sent to biological with Dr. Carla Connors, whom he ends up befriending. He later gets a call from Nico who tells him that their team won and that they have been invited to the afterparty, though Peter is unsure if he will actually make it.

As the group waits to get their results, Peter spots a news report about a burning building and sneaks off into the stairwell to change into Spider-Man. He arrives at the burning building and encounters pyromaniac arsonist Butane, who claims that he was hired for this job, later realizes that he was burning down the wrong building. Peter battles the foe and knocks him into a pet store where he takes him out by dropping a fish tank on him. Before leaving, he notices that the technology he was using for his flamethrowers has an unusual insignia on it.

Peter returns to Oscorp, but Wittman is enraged over his tardiness, even when Connors attempts to cover for him. Just then, a security guard comes in asking that Peter go see Osborn, with everyone fearing the worst. Peter makes his way up, while also getting a text from Nico who reveals that she did not want to stay at the party without him and attempts to apologize to him for the mistakes he has made. Instead, Osborn has called him up to tell him that he knows that he is Spider-Man.

Trivia[]

  • The title is a reference to the recurring Spider-Man motif that is a constant source of irritation for Peter Parker.
  • Norman Osborn shows Peter footage showing he knows he is Spider-Man, like Tony Stark did in Captain America: Civil War, only Osborn figured it out via security cameras, while Stark figured it on his own.
  • Peter's award Norman holds is for the Stark Jr science fair, implying that Tony Stark is still an inspiration to Peter in some way, just not in the same way he is in the main universe.
  • Nico says that one would find a bunker filled with gold and plutonium in Osborn's building, which is a reference to The Amazing Spider-Man, when the Rhino stole from Oscorp. She also mentions Roxxon, a large corporation prominently featured in the Marvel Universe.
    • This is the first time since Loki that Roxxon appears in an MCU universe other than the Sacred Timeline. It's also Roxxon's first MCU appearance overall since Echo.
  • Asha says she is from Wakanda and is seen wearing similar beads that Shuri was wearing throughout the MCU.
    • It's unknown if T'Challa is deceased in this universe, but he is most likely is, out of respect for the wishes of Chadwick Boseman's family.
  • Dr. Whitman calls Peter Hawkeye, one of the original six Avengers in the MCU. This establishes that Hawkeye exists in this universe along with Steve Rogers' Captain America and Iron Man.
  • Carla Connors is this universe's version of Curt Connors/Lizard, making her the second female variant of a Spider-Man villain, after Olivia Octavius from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the first one to be part of the MCU Multiverse.
  • Crusher Hogan makes a cameo appearance on the television, who Peter Parker fought in the comics in his very early days as Spider-Man.
