"The Parties" is the ninth episode of the Disney Channel show, That's So Raven and aired on February 28, 2003. It was written by Jeff Abugov & Michael Feldman and directed by Rich Correll.

Synopsis[]

Raven is extremely excited when she is hosting her first proper party. But when Raven's arch enemy, Nicki (Kirsten Storms), sabotages her plans and embarrasses Raven in front of her entire school, Rae, Chelsea, and Eddie take revenge.

Plot[]

Raven and Chelsea are handing out invitations for Raven's first ever "for no reason" party the following week. Both of them are excited until Nicki arrives with her hair-spraying lackeys. Despite the girls trading barbs with each other, Raven gives Nicki an invitation to her party, since she is inviting everyone in her grade. Nicki declines, saying that she will be holding her own party the same night as Raven's. A few of the other girls toss their invitations away after hearing that.

Later, Raven is venting to Eddie and Chelsea about Nicki. Raven says Nicki hates her in particular for not kissing up or agreeing to be one of Nicki's hairspray girls. She also knows that Nicki has a bigger house, more money, and will likely throw a better party. After seeing all the returned invitations in her locker, she nearly decides to cancel. But, Raven gets a vision of people running into her house, cheering for the party. She hands out her invitations again to everyone who returned them. Seeing this, Nicki again tries to dissuade Raven from throwing her party, but Raven is firm and refuses. The argument comes to a head when a cute football player, Ricky, arrives. Raven gives Ricky an invitation and says that she will have henna tattoos and her professional chef father will make the food. Nicki shoves Raven aside and says her party will have a giant screen TV and her father will bring the San Francisco Giants. Ricky states that he hates the Giants, so he and his friends will go to Raven's. Nicki leaves in a huff.

That Saturday, the Baxter family is going about their business. Victor and Tanya are working out together with an exercise ball, and Cory is watching TV. Raven comes downstairs in a bathrobe and mud mask. She and Cory briefly argue about whether he can attend next week's party. But, they are interrupted by the doorbell. Cory answers it, and all of Raven's guests stream into the house, excited about the party, just like her vision predicted. Raven asks why everyone is there when her party is the following week. One of the guests explains that an email was sent out saying Raven's party had been moved to this week. Nicki then steps forward and smugly says that she "allowed" Raven to have her party first. Then she snaps a picture of the green-faced, pajama-wearing Raven. The guests are all confused why Raven is not ready for her own party. Tonya tries to stall by saying that everyone will get mud masks like Raven, and urges her daughter to go upstairs and get dressed. While she does, Tonya and Victor put on some disco music and dance in a goofy way. The guests begin to leave as a dressed and coiffed Raven comes back downstairs. She asks what happened, and Nicki explains before leaving Raven alone "to have a good cry."

A few days later at school, Raven is still moping to Eddie and Chelsea about Nicki's trick. But, the trio notices that there is a long line in one of the hallways. They go to the front to see what the line is for. To Raven's horror, Nicki and her lackeys have set up a table where they charge students to take pictures with a life-sized cutout of Raven from her failed party. Humiliated again, Raven calls Nicki pure evil and is ready to completely give up on any social standing she has at the school. But, she has another vision: Chelsea is congratulating Raven for getting back at Nicki. Raven smirks and says that the battle is not over, "'til the bleached blonde cries."

That Saturday, Nicki's party is in full swing and can be heard from the Baxter house. Raven, Eddie, and Chelsea are hanging out in the living room. Tonya and Baxter tell them that they are going to the store to get a new exercise ball after Victor "accidentally" dropped a knife onto it...22 times. After the two of them leave, Raven, Eddie, and Chelsea all go over the finishing touches on their plan. Eddie has some cables going from the Baxter house to Nicki's house, and are hooked up to Nicki's giant TV. Chelsea has the bait: a lovely bouquet of flowers with a secret admirer's note for Nicki. Raven calls Nicki up and tells her that the flowers were accidentally sent to her house. After hanging up, Raven waits 5 seconds. When the doorbell rings, everyone gets into position.

Nicki enters, as smug as ever, and wearing Raven's intended party clothes. She claims that after Raven returned the outfit, she was able to get it at a discount because it stank of failed party. Raven leads Nicki towards the bouquet, but Eddie arrives with a leaf blower to "show" the girls. He turns it on and blasts Nicki with air, turning it up higher when Nicki yells at him. Once her hair is ruined, he stops. Raven feigns frustration at Eddie, and offers to fix Nicki's hair with Chelsea and her aerosol cans. Chelsea sprays Nicki's hair, then her entire body. Nicki screams that she is getting all sticky, and Raven feigns frustration at Chelsea. Cory enters with a feather pillow and starts "pillow fighting" Nicki, causing the pillow to burst. Eddie turns the leaf blower back on and feathers fly all around Nicki, sticking to her body. Raven feigns frustration at her brother. She offers to help Nicki out the back door so no one will see her, but once Nicki enters the backyard, Raven turns the sprinklers on. Nicki comes back into the kitchen, griping about being wet. Raven feigns frustration at the sprinklers. Cory offers Nicki some towels, but as soon as she dabs her face, she peels the towel off, feeling something mushy. Her face is covered in a green substance. Raven points out that it is pistachio pudding.

Nicki now looks much like Raven did at the failed party: disheveled, with a green mask. Eddie comes back with a camera, gives it to Raven, and says that as soon as she presses the record button, the image will be broadcast to Nicki's TV where all of her guests can see. Nicki begs them to not do it, and Raven hesitates. She sees the fear and worry on Nicki's face, and stops smiling. Like the vision, Chelsea congratulates Raven for beating Nicki. But, Raven admits that she feels horrible. Eddie and Chelsea point out that Nicki had this coming for embarrassing Rae and generally being mean. Raven counters that stooping to Nicki's level is not worth it. She then leads Nicki upstairs to help her clean up. Eddie and Chelsea both disperse to clean up the living room. Cory stays in the kitchen, noticing the camera is still rigged to Nicki's TV. He takes it, presses "Record" and announces to the ladies that the real party is three doors down.

Later, Nicki is all clean and presentable, wearing one of Raven's homemade dresses. Nicki thanks Raven for letting her borrow it. Raven says Nicki can return the dress when the party ends, but Nicki says that she is not wearing the dress into the party. She is immediately going to change when she gets to her house. She struts out the door, and Chelsea points out Raven should have carried out her revenge plan completely. Nicki enters again, having forgotten her bouquet of flowers. After smelling them and pressing them to her face, she leaves again. Chelsea wonders if Raven told Nicki that the bouquet was full of poison ivy. Raven feigns frustration at herself.
