The story was planned to be featured in issue #720 of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, but Boom! Studios' sudden loss of the Disney comic license resulted in the story being shelved, with the issue instead running the second half of "The Treasure of Marco Topo" (the first half of which ran in Mickey Mouse and Friends #309). It would finally turn up in issue #734 under IDW Publishing five years later.
- Oswald the Lucky Rabbit makes a cameo as one of the characters springing from Walt Disney's drawing board. Since this predates the Epic Mickey tie-in comics, this marks Oswald's first appearance in a Disney-licensed comic book following Disney's reacquistion of the character from NBC-Universal four years earlier.
- Donald mentions at the end that he is "meeting some uncle for Christmas on a mountain just 14 months from now." He's referring to "Christmas on Bear Mountain", the 1947 comic story in which Scrooge McDuck debuted.
