"The Plant Predicament" is the first segment of the fourth episode of Vampirina. It premiered on October 6, 2017 alongside "Mummy Mayhem".
Synopsis[]
Edna enters a Green Thumb Contest and accidentally plants some of Oxana’s magical Transylvanian seeds.
Plot[]
Vampirina and Poppy are playing hide and seek. It doesn't take long for Poppy to find Vampirina. Afterwards, Edna is worried about her petunias. She needs to get ready for the Green Thumb Contest. Edna says that the contest is a gardening competition. She though the contest was next month, but it is today, and she has so much to do. Vampirina and Poppy can help, as well as Oxana, as she loves to garden. Vampirina tells Oxana about Edna needing help with her Green Thumb Contest, which Oxana agrees. Gregoria doesn't feel confident about it, as Oxana's kind of gardening is different from Edna's kind. Vampirina and Oxana tell Gregoria that everything will be fine. Edna appreciates Vampirina bringing Oxana with her. As Oxana goes to dig holes for the seeds, she accidentally drops a pack of seeds, which then growl.
After the seeds are planted, Edna reveals that the secret weapon for the seeds growing into plants in one day is Fitzy-Spritzy's fast-acting plant fertilizer. She then uses it when Poppy finds the pack of seeds left behind. Oxana says that those are her snow seeds, which only work if there's a blizzard. Gregoria says that Poppy almost planted the snapping monster pods. Edna decides for her and Oxana go to wash up, but then notices a garden statue (which is Gregoria). After they leave, Wolfie appears. Vampirina and Poppy decide to play with her while they wait for the plants to sprout.
Just as Vampirina tells Gregoria that nothing bad will happen, Wolfie knocks over the monster sprouts. Vampirina and Poppy realize that it is a snapping monster plant. Just as Vampirina says that this is no time to panic, more snapping monster plants grow. Once Vampirina and Poppy hear Edna, they quickly run to her and Oxana, and tell them that the plants are not growing yet. Vampirina tells Oxana about the snapping monster pods growing, and the two try to take care of it while Poppy tells Edna to make tea. Oxana decides to help Edna while Poppy and Vampirina get rid of the monster plants.
Poppy has safety scissors and attempts to cut the stems to no avail. Gregoria says that those are not regular plants. Vampirina then calls Demi for help. Demi states that his great great grandpa ghost had a garden once. He says that he's a poof away, which is only three whooshes. Poppy is being lifted by a monster plant, and Vampirina goes to get her, causing both to get stuck in the air. As Edna and Oxana go back to the entrance, Vampirina and Poppy tell them about the tea and the cookies. While Edna makes the cookies, Oxana sees the monster plants, and is reassured by Vampirina that Demi is getting help. Oxana tells Edna to make oatmeal raisin and chocolate surprise.
Demi then arrives, and states that he spoke to his great great great grandpa ghost. He revealed that he found out there's a spell that will get rid of the snapping monster plants. Vampirina and Poppy just have to say the spell once. Demi reveals that he must have forgotten it during the poofing and whooshing. He then shows Vampirina and Poppy how to get rid of the plants with a monster dance. Vampirina and Poppy do the same, but the plants are growing faster. Vampirina and Poppy try it again, and this time, the monster plants disappear. Edna then goes outside to her garden just as the plants grow. Edna likes it just as the judges arrive. They say that the garden is lovely, including the two monster plants that the spell missed. Edna says that it was a mistake. However, the judges still like the garden, and crown Edna the winner of the green thumb contest. Edna thanks Poppy and Vampirina for the help. Gregoria says that his stone heart feels two sizes bigger after helping humans.
