"The Plausible Impossible" is an episode of the Disneyland television program.

Synopsis[]

The episode shows Walt Disney explaining how drawings and animation have things that are impossible seem plausible, as evidenced in ancient history (i.e., Egyptian gods, Chinese dragons, and various creatures from Greek mythology) and various cartoons with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. This episode also includes the unfinished and deleted "Music in Your Soup" scene from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This episode culminates with the "Night on Bald Mountain" segment of Fantasia.

The featured cartoons are Thru the Mirror and Donald's Cousin Gus.

Availability[]

The episode was released on VHS in 1986 (and paired with The Ranger's Guide to Nature) and the DVD Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studios in the second wave of Walt Disney Treasures releases on December 3, 2002. An excerpt is also included as a bonus feature on the Mickey Mouse in Living Color, Volume 2 set. The Snow White pencil test footage is also included as a bonus feature on DVD and Blu-Ray releases of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As of November 12, 2019, the episode is available for streaming on Disney+.
