"The Really Real Dragon" is the first half of the fourth episode in the second season of Stanley.
Summary[]
Lester thinks dragons are real, but Stanley says they're just make believe. So Dennis takes the kids into the Great Big Book of Everything to show them that they're both technically right.
Synopsis[]
Stanley and his friends are out playing in the backyard. Stanley suggests that they all pretend to be animals and that the backyard is a rainforest. Lester says that he wants to be a fire breathing dragon, but Stanley claims that dragons don't exist. This causes the boys to argue until Dennis breaks up the fight. To find out if dragons are real or not, Dennis suggests they look it up in the Great Big Book of Everything.
Upon looking in the book, the kids discover that dragons are described as giant mythical beasts that have scales and breath fire and are widely beloved in Asia (mainly China and Japan) as symbols of good luck. Just as Stanley and Lester start fighting again, Dennis explains that dragons are indeed mythical (meaning non-existent), leaving Lester feeling disappointed.
Before closing the book, Dennis notices one more thing that says, 'see also: Komodo dragon'. Upon looking up the page, the kids all go into the book to learn more. Realizing that there is in fact such a thing as a Komodo dragon, Lester is ecstatic while Stanley is disappointed for being wrong. Dennis then clarifies how the Komodo dragon is different from mythical dragons, including the fact that they don't breathe fire, but do have very stinky breath. As Lester wants to get a closer look, the Komodo dragon makes its way towards the kids, which worries Dennis sense they've been known to eat people.
After escaping from the book, both Stanley and Lester admit that they were both technically right about something. Lester was right about dragons being real, even if they are just lizards, and Stanley was right about mythical dragons being made-up. With that, Stanley decides they should all be pretend dragons instead and get back to their game.
