The Red Lobster Inn is a tavern that is seen briefly in the film Pinocchio. The Inn is of significance to the story because it is where Honest John and Gideon meet the Coachman who proposes them his offer to bring him "stupid little boys" in exchange of money (they end up taking only the naive Pinocchio to the coach for Pleasure Island).
Background
It is apparent that the tavern is smoked in regularly since it appears smoky when the inside is shown for the first time and the three villains are all seen smoking (Honest John and Gideon both have cigars while the Coachman has a pipe).
Although the establishment is called the Red Lobster Inn, it is not indicated in the movie whether anyone stayed there or not.
Trivia
- In the original Italian story, it was called The Red Crayfish Inn ("L'Osteria del Gambero Rosso"), but in the Disney movie (and most English translations) it was called "The Red Lobster Inn" because it was felt that most non-Italian children reading the book would less likely to be familiar with crayfish than lobsters.
- Curiously enough, the Red Lobster is also the name of a popular seafood restaurant chain in North America.
