"The Reward" is the eighth episode of the Disney XD series Tron: Uprising. It premiered October 19, 2012.
Synopsis[]
General Tesler sits in the safety of his command room until an Identity Disc rolls in. He goes to retrieve it and an almost derezzed red guard crawls towards him. He sees the renegade who keeps evading his punches, Tesler is shocked when all of the orange circuitry in Argon City returns to blue. He snaps out of sleep mode and tells Pavel and Paige that he wants all of the programs to go to the coliseum.
In his public address to the programs, he says that whoever turns in the renegade gets a Light Roadster as well as a lifted curfew. Tron and Beck watch on but Beck is discouraged by this. Tron suggests he use this to his advantage, but Beck says he needs time off.
Red guards begin taking innocent citizens away to test whether they are the renegade.
Beck, Zed, and Mara go to the club to relive some old times but Link, while fawning over the Roadster, is tricked by Pavel into turning Hopper in as the renegade. At the club, Beck is angered by all of the red guards until Pavel storms in and arrests Hopper unjustly. Paige is shocked to hear that Pavel arrested Hopper. Zed and Mara agree to help her prove his innocence.
Pavel takes Hopper's disc to Gorn who inserts false memories into the disc. Pavel brings the innocent program before Tesler who is not completely convinced that Hopper is the renegade until he sees the fake memory. But he still believes he is no Tron and has him taken to be punished.
Link is taking a casual drive in the Roadster but is shocked to see the white-suited renegade in his back seat.
Paige confronts Pavel about his falsehood and has Mara and Zed back her up. Tesler walks in and accuses the mechanics of being "renegade sympathizers" and they are taken to Argon Square to be publicly executed.
Beck, still in mask, tries to get Link to understand his plan but the deresolution ceremony begins too soon, causing Beck to "borrow Link's Roadster and rush to his friend's rescue. Mara, Zed, and Hopper are strung up and pulled apart by opposing light cycles but Beck zooms in and cuts the wires before they can harm his friends. Pavel begins firing explosives at the platform on which they are standing causing the four to nearly fall off. Beck narrowly saves them and drives them all away in the Roadster. Tesler is none too pleased at this news.
On the road, Hopper almost derezzes Beck but is kicked out by Zed. Mara is ecstatic to be with the renegade but Zed is not as happy, even saying he wishes Beck were there. Beck pulls a lever and the other two roll away while he goes away on the other half of the Roadster.
Beck returns to Tron and says, "I thought you were taking time off," to which Beck replies, "Easier said than done." Beck is not done with renegade work.
