The Roses is an upcoming satirical black comedy drama film directed by Jay Roach and written by Tony McNamara. It is a reimagining of the 1989 film War of the Roses, which itself is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Warren Adler. It is scheduled to be released on August 29, 2025.
Synopsis[]
Theo and Ivy Rose have been happily married for years. Since then, their happiness has dwindled and so has their sanity, resulting in a messy battle of the sexes.

On April 1, 2024, Deadline reported that a satirical black comedy drama film directed by Jay Roach titled The Roses was in development, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman cast in the lead roles.[1]
On June 4, Kate McKinnon, Andy Samberg, Ncuti Gatwa, Sunita Mani, Zoë Chao, Jamie Demetriou, Belinda Bromilow, Hala Finley, and Akie Kotabe rounded out the cast.[2]
On March 25, 2025, The Hollywood Reporter reported that film is scheduled to be released on August 29, 2025.[3]
