The Santa Clauses is a Disney+ original series, set as a continuation of The Santa Clause film series. It premiered on November 16, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. He learns of a contract clause where he can be released from his duties as Santa if another man is willing to succeed him. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.

On January 14, 2022, Variety reported that a The Santa Clause limited series on Disney+ is in development, with Tim Allen returning as Scott Calvin. Production is scheduled to begin in March 2022.[2]
On January 28, 2022, Deadline reported that Elizabeth Mitchell would be reprising her role as Carol Newman-Calvin / Mrs. Claus in the series.[3]
On February 23, 2022, the title was officially revealed to be The Clauses.[4]
On March 1, 2022, Jason Winer was tapped to direct the series and also executive produce through his production company, Small Dog Productions.[5]
On March 3, 2022, Deadline reported that Kal Penn has joined the cast of the series portraying Simon Choksi.[6]
On April 1, 2022, Tim Allen's daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, joined the cast along with Austin Kane, Rupali Redd and Devin Bright.[7]
On April 20, 2022, Deadline reported that Matilda Lawler joined the cast of the series playing Betty.[8]
On June 3, 2022, Tim Allen announced that filming had wrapped and that the series would premiere in the fall.[9]
On July 27, 2022, it was confirmed that David Krumholtz would return.[10]
On November 8, 2022, it was reported that Ariel Rechtshaid would compose the score for the series.[11]
On December 14, 2022, it was announced that the series has been renewed for a second season.
On February 24, 2023, Eric Stonestreet joined the cast as the antagonist of season two, Magnus Antas, the Mad Santa.[12]
On February 27, 2023, Gabriel Iglesias joined the cast as Kris Kringle, the owner of a theme park called Santaland.[13]
On May 3, 2023, Tracy Morgan joined the cast as the Easter Bunny.[14]

- This is the first TV series based on a Walt Disney Pictures film to be produced by 20th Television.
- This makes The Santa Clause the second Walt Disney Pictures franchise with a continuation produced under the 20th name after 20th Century Studios had distributed The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
- It is also the second 20th Century production to serve as a continuation or revival adaptation to one of Disney's properties, albeit from the Walt Disney Pictures library, after Turner & Hooch (which was based on a Touchstone Pictures film).
- The series was originally titled The Clauses.
- Tim Allen's daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick plays one of Scott Calvin's children: Sandra Calvin.[7]
