"The Savage Lands" is the two-part season premiere of the third season of Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!
Synopsis[]
After all that has happened, Chiro, now in a strange new form, discovers a whole new world beneath Shuggazoom's surface. As the remaining Monkey Team members search for him, he's on a search of his own... for Antauri. Well, he wants to put Antauri's power primate in the silver monkey suit. When the others finally find him, all they want is for Chiro to come home where he belongs. But little do they know of the greater journey that lies ahead.
It hasn't been long since the events of Skeleton King's attempt to summon the Dark One Worm from beneath Shuggazoom as part of his ultimate invasion of the city before being stopped by the Hyperforce, but at a heavy cost as the city was severely damaged and needs time to rebuild, Antauri had apparently sacrificed himself to stop the Dark One from fully emerging, and Chiro has regressed into a cross between his human self and a black-furred monkey and disappeared into the jungle lands beneath Shuggazoom's surface. As Chiro makes his way through the jungle, he's attacked by various creatures who all appear to be made from Formless Ooze. Nevertheless, he still gives them a good screech of defiance before running deeper into the jungle. At one point, he stops for a drink, and soon sees his reflection become that of Antauri, causing him to remember one of his past lessons regarding the Power Primate he had with Antauri. As Antauri spiritually assures Chiro he's still with him, Chiro seems despondent, but a glimmer of hope in the distance fills him with joy as he sets off towards it.
Back in Shuggazoom, the Super Robot has been repaired from the battle damage sustained from the war, and joined by Jinmay, the Hyperforce is having no luck tracking down Chiro, not to mention Gibson and Sparx are arguing over who is in command without Chiro or Antauri there since they served as first and second-in-command respectively. Despite their arguing, the radar soon locates Chiro, and the team head out to find him in the wastelands outside Shuggazoom City.
Back in the jungles, Chiro continues his struggles to reach whatever he saw in the distance, but soon faces a large, Formless Tyrannosaurus. Despite his best attempts to fight it, he soon finds himself struggling to hold the beast's jaws open to avoid being eaten, but his strength soon begins to wane and the jaws close on him. However, when Antauri is heard reminding Chiro to embrace the Power Primate, Chiro unleashes his own Monkey Mind Scream that causes the Formless T-Rex's head to swell and balloon until it can't take the stress any further and ruptures, revealing the T-Rex skeleton used to create the Formless Tyrannosaurus as the top part of the skull is broken clean off the jaw, ensuring the Formless Ooze can't reanimate it again, and the rest of the skeleton collapses, while Chiro undergoes an evolution, turning into a caveman version of himself with his Hyperforce suit completely repaired now from the damaged sustained from the earlier war, and continues onward.
Meanwhile, the Hyperforce arrive in the area, and while the monkeys set off to find Chiro, Jinmay is told to stay at the Super Robot until they return. However, after they leave, Jinmay is attacked by jungle tribe themed Formless warriors, which cause her to notice when her arms become coated in metal before reverting, much to her confusion, before she's captured, indicating that she could no longer assume her giant full robot form from her human appearance.
While the monkeys follow Chiro's trail to wherever he is, Chiro reaches the location he saw earlier, which is revealed to be the Alchemist's former home before his transformation into the Skeleton King. Through several video diaries the Alchemist left behind, Chiro learns of a possible way to revive Antauri through a new robot monkey body, a silver monkey, but the Alchemist never finished it because he could never truly understand the Power Primate before his fall to evil. Using what the Alchemist left behind, Chiro attempts to revive Antauri, but as he is doing so, the other monkeys find him, and despite his caveman appearance and way of speaking, he is able to convince them to help him revive Antauri via the silver monkey body. As they are about to do so, they are attacked by the jungle Formless. Sparx, Nova, Gibson, and Otto try to hold them off until Chiro completes the procedure, but when the silver monkey shows no movement whatsoever, Chiro becomes frantic trying to call out to Antauri until the jungle Formless start to drag him away from the body, at which point, the Power Primate reacts within Chiro and seemingly transfers into the silver monkey body, reverting Chiro completely back to his original human self, which passes out, allowing him to be captured with the rest of the Hyperforce.
As the jungle Formless take their prisoners back to their lair, Chiro regains consciousness, but when Gibson asks if he remembers anything, Chiro admits it is all a haze. Only thing he can remember is looking for Antauri.
The jungle Formless soon arrive at the pyramid that serves as their headquarters, with the Hyperforce quickly realizing it means trouble. Although Sparx and Gibson get into another quarrel, with Sparx asking the jungle Formless to eat Gibson first, getting a growl of agreement from the one he asks, soon, a figure rushes past, getting the attention of the Hyperforce. It is only after it takes out most of the jungle Formless single-handed that the ones carrying the Hyperforce put them down to investigate, only to be cut down as well. At that point, the figure is revealed to be the silver monkey from earlier, using an attack similar to Antauri's to take out the jungle Formless, including using a stronger variant that turns his entire body intangible like his ghost claws to slay the final one, which gasps and chokes before bursting apart. At that point, he then approaches the Hyperforce, and reveals who he really is...
The Hyperforce are shocked that Antauri is alive, but he assures them he's back, this time for good, before cutting them free of their bindings, getting a relived hug from Nova as she was worried sick about him.
Chiro is happy to see Antauri was never really gone, but Antauri assures Chiro that he was still alive within Chiro and owes him his life for saving his soul after his original organic body was sacrificed to become pure Power Primate energy to survive in Chiro until transferred to the silver monkey body. The reunion is cut short when they hear Jinmay scream and rush to her aid, fighting past several traps until reaching the heart of the pyramid and meeting the one in charge of the jungle Formless and the Savage Lands, Valeena the Skull Sorceress. Valeena reveals to the Hyperforce that the Dark One Worm that they thought they had killed when they decapitated it from its body back when it was emerging from its egg in Shuggazoom's core survived, regenerated its body, and was now roaming rampant across the cosmos, spreading its evil wherever it went. Valeena plans to summon it back to Shuggazoom to offer Jinmay as a sacrifice to it. To ensure the Hyperforce don't interfere, she leaves a large horned Formless beast to face the Hyperforce while she heads to the surface to begin the ritual. The beast proves powerful, until Chiro summons his Power Primate gorilla spirit body to fight it, and manages to defeat it by ripping its head off, causing the body to collapse back into Formless Ooze while the head also collapses back into the pool it spawned from. After Antauri revives Otto and Nova and has them help reboot Sparx and Gibson, Antauri is able to phase through the wall and find the switch to open the door, before advising the team to hurry to save Jinmay.
Meanwhile, Valeena and the jungle Formless have begun the ceremony as Valeena vocalizes to summon the Dark One/Skeleton King Worm as the jungle Formless dance to the beat. The Hyperforce arrive just as the portal opens and the Dark One Worm appears and descends through it, having the Skeleton King's severed head screech at Jinmay as she screams in terror. Knowing that they have to move in now before Jinmay is sacrificed, Antauri goes after Jinmay, while the rest of the Hyperforce go after Valeena and her jungle Formless. However, Valeena proves powerful, overpowering the monkeys before facing Chiro one-on-one, but is able to subdue him by sicking several skull-themed bats on him. At the same time, Antauri frees Jinmay before turning his attention to the Dark One Worm. The Skeleton King's severed head tries to attack him, but when it looks like it succeeded in subduing him, Antauri reveals he was faking it, and headbutts the Skeleton King's head while in his ghost form, electrocuting it and the Dark One Worm. When Valeena sees her master in trouble, Chiro uses the opening to use the Power Primate to unleash a Monkey Mind Scream on the skull Valeena used for her ritual, shattering it, scattering the jungle Formless, and forcing the portal shut so the Dark One Worm is forced to retreat for the time being.
Despite losing her powers, Valeena tries to attack Chiro in retaliation, but he easily blasts her away and into the pool of Formless Ooze below, where she apparently drowns. Jinmay returns to find it is over, but with Valeena defeated and the source of her powers destroyed, the Savage Lands begin to collapse. Luckily, the Super Robot arrives to save everyone and return them safely to Shuggazoom.
Some time later, as Shuggazoom City continues to rebuild, Jinmay finishes her training regiment in the Super Robot's training room, impressing Chiro as how well she's adapting to her powers now, now able to assume a metallic skin appearance in her human form instead of turning into her giant, all-robot form. Otto contributes it to Nova's training that helped her out. Shortly thereafter, SPRX and Gibson enter, still arguing as to who is third-in-command of the Hyperforce, before asking Antauri, who reveals that Nova is third-in-command, to the shock, then annoyance, of both SPRX and Gibson.
Although Otto believes that Shuggazoom is safe now from Skeleton King, Chiro says otherwise, knowing that with the Dark One Worm running rampant throughout the universe, no one is safe until it is destroyed. Thus, the Hyperforce announce to the people of Shuggazoom that they will be leaving the planet to hunt down the Dark One Worm and won't return until it is destroyed. However, to ensure the city remains protected in their absence, Chiro announces that Jinmay will be serving as Shuggazoom's protector until the Hyperforce returns, with Jinmay now sporting her own Hyperforce uniform as an official member of the team. After she gives Chiro a goodbye kiss and to promise her that he'll come back safely, she descends down to join the people of Shuggazoom, looking back up at the Hyperforce as Chiro announces that they will return, earning one final round of cheers from the crowd before the Super Robot lifts off and ascends into space to begin the hunt for the Dark One Worm..
