"The Saw-shank Redemption" is the first segment of the twenty-fourth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Hailey's On It!
Synopsis[]
Hailey and Scott get thrown into detention.
Plot[]
While Hailey is teaching Scott how to use a yo-yo, Buzzsaw tries to get to class on time, only to be stopped by Kelly Hardmeier, a strict and tough disciplinarian who looks for any excuse to put anyone in detention to meet his quota. Hailey tries to get her text book, but finds her locker glued shut, while a sneaky A.C. seemingly feigns wonder over how that happened. Hailey manages to get it open and she and Scott make it class before the bell. However, Hardmeier places them in detention because they were running through the halls and hopped over a wet floor sign. This conflicts with Hailey needing to complete her list item of winning the local kite competition.
Hailey and Scott meet the Saws who reveal that their friend Hacksaw managed to escape, though they don't know how or where she went. Hardmeier proceeds to work on his car while the group make keychains in class. Hailey learns that all the Saws wanted to go to the kite competition, but found themselves in similar situations with A.C. nearby, implying that he is the reason for their incarceration. Hailey, determined to escape so they can beat A.C., attempts to fake out Hardmeier with a phone call for a car exhibition, but he sees right through it. They soon find a tunnel in the room that Hacksaw escaped through and use crash test dummies as decoys while they escape.
Upon arriving at the beach, Hailey and Scott confront A.C., but learn that he genuinely had no idea how the incidents befell each of the detentionees. He came to the kite competition simply to admire the craftsmanship. The kites that he brought were simply to show off as he does not take them out of the packaging. They discover that Hardmeier is there, having intentionally put them in detention so that he could win the kite flying competition himself. Luckily, Hacksaw arrives with kites and all the kids are able to enter, resulting in Hailey winning and humiliating Hardmeier. With her work done, Hacksaw leaves.

- This episode reveals that all the troublemakers names have some variation of "saw"
- For once, A.C. doesn't do anything sinister and simply has a conniving sounding laugh.
- Kelly Hardmeier is very similar to Richard Vernon from the 1985 film, The Breakfast Club and Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from the 1987 film, Full Metal Jacket.
