"The Secret of the Juice" is the ninth episode of the Adventures of the Gummi Bears, which aired on November 23, 1985.
Plot[]
After a close call escaping Ogres, Grammi believes it is time to teach another Gummi Bear how to make Gummiberry Juice. Sunni is chosen as the most eligible candidate, but she is more into fashion and spending time with Calla. For this reason, Sunni is unable to pay attention as Grammi is trying to teach her the recipe, thus Sunni spoils the preparation.
The Ogres kidnap Grammi and take her to Castle Drekmore, where Duke Igthorn attempts to make her reveal the recipe for Gummiberry Juice (Grammi responds by making the Ogres an incomplete recipe that makes them inflate and float to the ceiling like balloons). When the male Gummies go on a rescue mission for Grammi, they request Sunni to bring some Gummiberry Juice, which Sunni does not know how to make because she failed to pay attention to Grammi's lessons.
Regardless, Princess Calla convinces Sunni that they at least must try to help. Meanwhile, Igthorn tickle-tortures Grammi into revealing the correct recipe and then orders the juice's preparation. While Calla looks for the male Gummies, Sunni finds herself in the kitchen and plays along with the Ogres' mistaken impression that she is part of the crew. To that end, she tries again at making the juice, and this time, she is successful. But just as Sunni is celebrating, she accidentally gives herself away, so she quickly gathers a jar full of juice before she makes her escape. Thus, as Igthorn tries to dispatch Grammi, Sunni manages to save the matron's life by giving her a dose of the juice. However, Igthorn is able to corner the Gummies and Princess Calla, and all seems lost.
Unbeknownst to them all, Toadwart finds the pot of juice in the kitchen and mistakenly believes that it still needs preparing and that he can do it. When Toadwart performs the last step, striking the pot with the stirring spoon, he causes an explosive wave of ruined juice to burst out of the kitchen and stun Igthorn's forces. This enables the Gummies and Calla to escape amid the confusion.
Afterward, back in Gummi Glen, Grammi and Sunni are cleaning up the kitchen. Calla comes to ask if Sunni can come to learn to use swords, and Grammi lets Sunni go, confident that she will be a fine juicemaker, someday.
