The Simpsons: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is a Simpsons short. It was released exclusively on Disney+ on October 11, 2024.[2]
Synopsis[]
Sideshow Bob teams up with the most infamous villains of Disney+ to share the true meaning for the Halloween season. Filled with music, mayhem, and madness, this short from The Simpsons is simply to die for.[3]
Plot[]
Sideshow Bob greets the viewers a very special wish of the season and what he specifically explains that it is Halloween season. He then discusses a time to think about what is important, discussing the villainy he does albeit with a few humor, just as he is shown to have tied up Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie on their couch, thanks to his evil plans. Bob then begins to sing, much to Bart's worry, only for Bob to silence him as he sings a villainous, parodied version of the Christmas song "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year".
Amongst the characters from Disney branches seen during the song include the Evil Queen in her hag form brewing a cauldron, Amos Slade attempting to hunt down Bambi and his mother (only to be hit by the Great Prince of the Forest), and the Disney Villains at Disney Villain Land singing together with Bob (consisting of the Evil Queen, Ursula, Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil, Hans, Mother Gothel, Hades, Kaa, Gaston, Jafar, and Scar). As the song continues, Nelson sings his part, followed by Darth Vader and Thanos singing their parts, while Sideshow Bob resumes singing his part with the Disney Villains and other villains from the Simpsons. Bart, however, interrupts Bob's song, introducing him to Loki, who grants a garden rake to hit Bob and stop his evil plans.
Bart then joins in the singing with Bob and the Disney Villains with Hook knocking the head off the statue of Jebediah, Jafar transforming the Sultan into a frog while Itchy is chased by Pete, Kang and Kodos strangling Ursula, the Big Bad Wolf blowing away the Flanders' house, and the Dalmatian Puppies escaping from Cruella. Sideshow Bob then sings his line about the Brothers Grimm getting their stories copyrighted with Snow White, Aurora, Rapunzel, and Hansel and Gretel perished by Thanos using his powers, followed by Kearney, Jimbo, and Dolph beating up the hyenas Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, and Tiana kissing the Sultan transformed into a frog only to turn into Kaa instead, just as Bob and the Disney Villains (with Shere Khan and Agatha joining), alongside Bart and Loki, finish their song. As the curtains close, the short ends with Bob getting hit by a garden rake again.

Trivia[]
- The title of the short is a reference to the popular titular holiday song of the same name.
- During the middle of the short, Bart dresses up as Alex, a character from the British novel A Clockwork Orange, similar to the one he wore in "Treehouse of Horror III".
- Still images seen during the end credits sequence include:
- Bart places a cork on Sideshow Bob's mouth using a mallet with the latter being tied up to a tree by the Simpsons family house.
- Homer dressed as a lion tamer being faced by Scar and Shere Khan at a circus.
- Captain Hook standing on the edge of the bowsprit popping the balloons from Carl's House.
- The Evil Queen in her hag form selling Poisoned Apples outside the Poison Apple Store.
- Dr. Hibbert giving the Queen of Hearts an operation while the Card Soldiers surround their ruler.
- Patty and Selma shooting spells at Agatha in the sky as they fight against her.
- Honest John and Gideon attracting a group of children turned into donkeys while walking across the sidewalks of Springfield.
- Sideshow Bob flying past a full moon using a rake as a broomstick.
- The Red Queen and the White Queen appear in this short, but have a chess piece-style design instead of appearing in their designs from the Tim Burton adaptation of Alice in Wonderland.
- This marks the first animated appearance of Amos Slade since The Fox and the Hound 2 18 years prior, and the first time he is voiced since the aforementioned film.
- This marks the first animated appearance of The Great Prince of the Forest since Bambi II 18 years prior.
- The way Tiana is seen kissing the Sultan as a frog, only for him to turn into Kaa instead is a possible reference reference to the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog, where Tiana attempted to kiss Naveen (who turned into a frog) to break the curse, only for Tiana to turn into a frog instead.
- The Wilhelm scream sound effect is heard on the Disney+ logo where Bart (dressed as Alex) spray-paints the logo.
- None of the Pixar villains or The Nightmare Before Christmas characters appear in this short.
- This is the second time Kaa appears in a Simpsons short for Disney+ since The Simpsons: Welcome to the Club.
- The picture of the end credits where Homer is taming Scar and Shere Khan might have been inspired from an cancelled idea for a third Jungle Book movie from 2003 where Shere Khan and Baloo were to be abducted and taken to a Russian circus.
