The Simpsons 2 is an upcoming American animated comedy film produced by 20th Century Studios and 20th Century Animation. It serves as the sequel to The Simpsons Movie. It is scheduled to be released on July 23, 2027.[1]

Production
In July 2017, during the 10th anniversary of The Simpsons Movie, Jean and David Silverman said that a sequel film was in the early stages of development and stressed the toll production of the first picture took on the entire staff.[2]
On May 11, 2024, series writer Al Jean expressed his hopes for a sequel.[3]
The sequel was officially announced on September 29, 2025.[1]
Trivia
- The gap between the first film and the sequel is exactly 20 years, ironically after joking in the Season 19 episode "He Loves to Fly and He D'Ohs" that they would not take 2 decades to produce another film, although since it's being released 4 days shy of the first movies anniversary they've technically kept their promise.
- This movie will mark the 20th anniversary of the first movie and the 40th anniversary of The Simpsons franchise in general.
