"The Space Trader" is the first segment of the twenty-sixth episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on November 7, 2015 alongside "The Quantum Cup".
Plot[]
In the bio-garden, Miles, with M.E.R.C., is testing out a swing, which Leo used to try out when he was little, and said it was fun. Miles sits on it, but it barely swings. M.E.R.C. gives him a push, and Miles enjoys it more until he crashes into a tree branch. Once M.E.R.C. finds him, Miles tells him that that was the best part. Stella then informs Miles to report to the bridge for a call from Tomorrowland.
Admirals Watson and Crick are wondering if M.E.R.C. is all right when he and Miles arrive. The Admirals are worried if he was stolen like so many other robots. They reveal the culprit as a sneaky thief who always leaves something behind as a trade. The toy is four planets with one end moving at a time. It is also the calling card of Dashiell Scamp, also known as The Space Trader. The Admirals do not know what he looks like, and have also never seen his ship, the Rapscallion. To retrieve the stolen robots, there is a plan to use a robot as bait. Although it is not a good idea, M.E.R.C. is volunteering to be the bait. M.E.R.C. is sure he wants to do this, and after the transmission ends, he is motivated by the Callistos.
The Callistos then report to the Tethoscape like the Admirals told them to do, and Miles tells M.E.R.C. that he just has to walk around, and as soon as Scamp tries to catch him, Scamp will be arrested by the SpaceGuard. Miles decides to keep an eye on M.E.R.C. In another room, Captain Joe, Leo, Phoebe, and Loretta are watching the security cameras to make sure no exit is unguarded. Miles informs Joe that M.E.R.C. will be much better when this is all over. As M.E.R.C. walks around, he hears someone popping bubble gum, but he is safe. He heads towards a plant when he suddenly disappears. Joe calls the SpaceGuard, and Miles sees a toy the Admirals saw, meaning that M.E.R.C. has been stolen despite everyone watching. Joe tells everyone to stay on the exits and search every corner of the Tethoscape.
Miles makes it to Gate 3, and sees what looks like Scamp's ship. He then informs everyone that he knows why the ship has never been seen, as Scamp might be using an Invisitech device to make it invisible. As everyone else heads towards that gate, Miles sneaks into the ship, but as soon as he enters, the ship computer announces that the ship is disengaging from docking port. While the Callistos try to contact Miles to no avail, Joe sees a ship with its Invisitech device on leaving the station. Lieutenant Luminix tells another security officer to look for any distortion in the background star field. Leo also realizes that Invisitech blocks Questcom signals. Joe states that if Scamp finds Miles, he will just drop him off somewhere, as he is not interested in people. Phoebe decides, since Miles is not leaving without M.E.R.C., for everyone else to find them.
After Miles tries to contact his parents to no avail, he is confronted by Ruggles, who thinks Miles is an intruder. Miles then goes past him, and meets the other stolen robots, with Axel stating that Dashiell Scamp wishes to meet Miles. Miles, who realizes that those robots have been reprogrammed as well, goes past the robots, and Axel warns him to stop running immediately. Scamp then appears in front of Miles, and Scamp is impressed. Miles tells him that that he steals robots, and comes out of nowhere. Scamp does not come from out of nowhere, he teleports. Actually, his jump-coat teleports, but since he is wearing it, he teleports, as well. Scamp also tells Miles that he does not steal, he trades, as in Space Trader. Miles wonders why Scamp is trading, and Scamp says that he needed a new crew, as his last one quit on him. Robots do not eat, sleep, complain, and quit. Scamp suggests that Miles goes in an escape pod, but Miles says that he is not going anywhere without M.E.R.C. Scamp then brings him out, and Miles realizes that he was reprogrammed, as well. Scamp demonstrates that the blinky thing is a control module which makes robots follow his orders. After being told by Scamp that he should go, Miles sends his Questcom into the escape pod before the pod launches, and uses his Lazerang to knock the control module off M.E.R.C. Miles and M.E.R.C. then head to the bridge, and Scamp realizes that that is not the best trade he ever made.
As soon as Miles and M.E.R.C. see Scamp, Miles goes down one side while M.E.R.C. goes down the other. As M.E.R.C. chases the robots, Miles makes it to the bridge. Back in the Stellosphere, Loretta is picking up an SOS signal from Miles' Questcom. Phoebe is impressed, and decides to alert the SpaceGuard while Leo plots them a course to intercept.
In the Rapscallion, Miles shuts down the engines and is about to deactivate the Invisitech when Scamp pops in. Scamp realizes that Miles sent his Questcom into space to get it outside so that the Invisitech can not block its signal. The bad news: The SpaceGuard will not find the Rapscallion as long as it is invisible. Scamp insists that Miles go when M.E.R.C. appears. M.E.R.C. spits out all of the control modules, and the robots arrive. Axel announces that they are here to detain him, and Scamp concludes that M.E.R.C. is the worst trade he ever made. Miles then deactivates Invisitech. Scamp tells Miles that if he is a little older, look him up. Scamp then leaves with the escape pod with the SpaceGuard chasing after him. Miles is impressed about how great M.E.R.C. did.
The Admirals say that although Scamp managed to escape, the robots are back to normal, and congratulate M.E.R.C. for being the best bait they could ever ask for. The Callistos are so proud of M.E.R.C., as well, and since he is so brave, Miles has something for him to try. In the bio-garden, M.E.R.C. is on a swing, and Miles gives him a big push, causing M.E.R.C. to land on a tree branch. Miles tells him that that is the best part.
