Published in 1957, Diane Disney Miller, in collaboration with the journalist Pete Martin, conducted a series of interviews with her father, Walt Disney. Initially published in print, these interviews were later condensed into a book. It was an early glimpse of a personal and intimate look at his life, career, and character through the perspective of his daughter. Al Dempster was commissioned to design the cover of the book on which he drew a portrait of Walt surrounded by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto.

Intially released through Henry Holt & Co. in New York, the book has been re-published throughout the years and received a special edition release on March 1, 2005 through the Disney Editions brand of Disney Publishing Worldwide.
