The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat is an American drama film directed by Tina Mabry and distributed by Searchlight Pictures. It is based on the novel of the same name by Edward Kelsey Moore and released on Hulu on August 23, 2024.
Synopsis[]
The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat follows lifelong best friends Odette, Barbara Jean, and Clarice known as "The Supremes", who share the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood from decades of weathering life's storms. Through the joys and sorrows of life, marriage, and children, happiness and blues, love and loss, new shades of heartbreak and illness threaten to stir up the past when the trio sees their bond put to the test as they face their most challenging times yet.[1]

Production[]
On December 1, 2020, Variety reported that Edward Kelsey Moore's novel The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat was being developed by Tina Mabry and Gina Prince-Bythewood for Searchlight Pictures.[2]
On July 21, 2022, it was reported by Deadline that Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Sanaa Lathan, and Uzo Aduba were cast in to-be-confirmed role for the film.[3] The casting of Russell Hornsby, Mekhi Phifer, Kyanna Simone, Tati Gabrielle, and Abigail Achiri would be announced in the following months.[4][5][6]
Filming began in Wilmington, North Carolina on October 12, 2022, and wrapped on in early November, with Cleveland Berto, Dijon Means, Xavier Mills, and Ryan Paynter reported to appear in the film.[7]
Release[]
On May 13, 2024, it was announced by Searchlight Pictures that the film would be released on August 23, 2024 on Hulu. The poster for the film was also released.[8]
Reception[]
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 67% of 24 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.9/10.[9] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 55 out of 100, based on 9 critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews.[10]
