"The Tomb" is the fourth episode of the Disney+ streaming television miniseries Moon Knight and was released on April 20, 2022. It was written by Alex Meenehan, Peter Cameron, and Sabir Pirzada and directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

Synopsis[]

Marc & Steven must find balance as supernatural threats ahead look to stop them.

Plot[]

Layla manages to fend off some mercenaries long enough for Steven to wake up. Using the coordinates, they manage to locate the temple where Ammit is being kept. Layla makes it known that she prefers Steven over Marc; forcing him to tell her the reason for him pushing her away, which she seems to understand. Upon entering the temple, Steven happily engorges himself on the Egyptian culture and they realize that the interior is a maze. They come across a Heka Priest that proceeds to chase the two of them separately away deeper into the temple.

Layla traverses a deep chasm and encounters another Heka Priest that she manages to kill. She is confronted by Harrow who reveals to her that it was Marc who killed her father Abdullah; leaving her in tears. Steven manages to find the lost tomb of Alexander the Great, Ammit's previous avatar, and opens his tomb, before opening his mouth and reaching in to get Ammit's totem. Layla finds him and confronts Marc who reveals that while he did not kill Abdullah, his "partner" did and that in doing so, it lead to the two of them meeting for the first time.

Layla goes and hides as Marc is confronted by Harrow's men. Rather than give up the totem, Marc takes out some mercenaries, before getting shot in the chest twice by Harrow. He falls back and descends into a white void before transitioning into a psychiatric hospital where Marc is a patient, along with several people in his life, and Dr. Steven Grant is a character in a movie he is watching called Tomb Buster. As he is tended to by the hospital orderlies, Billy and Bobbi, Marc realizes that he can no longer sense Steven.

Marc gets taken to see Harrow, the head psychiatrist, and realizes that the hospital setting is an illusion after seeing clues and objects relating to his recent adventure. He escapes Harrow before finding a room where a physical Steven is locked in a sarcophagus. After releasing him the two of them escape and briefly see a rumbling sarcophagus that they do not open. As they prepare for what is coming, they are suddenly greeted, rather cheerfully, by the hippo goddess Taweret; causing both Steven and Marc to scream in terror.
