"The Unhaunting of Brighton Video" is the first segment of the twenty-eighth episode of the Disney Channel animated series The Ghost and Molly McGee.
Synopsis[]
Molly and Scratch attempt to un-haunt a building for the new community center.
Plot[]
Pete reveals his next city planning project, which is to convert the abandoned Brighton Video into a community center. Unfortunately, it is haunted by a ghost named Blair who refuses to give up her resting place. Molly then recruits the Ghost Friends, consisting of herself, Scratch, Libby, and the newly inducted Ollie who is slightly out of step with the rest of the group. Molly and Libby categorize Blair as an "HH" or a "Howlin' Harriet" in that she most likely has unfinished business and needs some "metaphorical toes" in order to pass on. Ollie is slow to catch on to the phrases and terms which Scratch is quick to mock him for.
Inside Brighton Video, Blair attempts to scare the group using horror tropes, but this has no effect on them. They learn that she does not want to leave, not because she has unfinished business, but because she loves living in the video store as she can watch all her favorite videos for eternity. Despite Ollie's best attempts to help her, his actions are fruitless with Scratch once again belittling his use. Scratch using his Chairman powers and Libby's efforts to get through to Blair also fail to turn her around. Eventually, Scratch's proposes they leave Blair alone and find a new place for the community center, which Molly and Libby disagreeing over preventing Blair from confronting her past. Surprisingly, Ollie agrees with Scratch's idea, siding with Blair and defend her from the rest, promising to watch movies with her. Blair happily kicks the rest out of the video store much to their confusion.
As Molly, Libby, and Scratch try to figure out what to do, Ollie continues to watch horror films with Blair, but notices that Blood Mansion, Blair's supposed favorite, is not being viewed. Blair seems to dodge the issue until Molly, Libby, and Scratch reenter the store via the air ducts. Molly realizes that Ollie is the one with the issue and he admits that he has trouble moving on from the fact that he used to harm ghosts. Molly tells him that he just needs to continue being a good person. This results in Blair admitting that not only did she fail to return Blood Mansion to the video store, but that since dying she is unable to watch it (since the video tape also became a ghost). The kids pretend to be employees to help return her overdue video and she passes on, while Scratch finally accepts Ollie.
