"The Untimely Terror of the Time Turtle" is the second of two stories published in Darkwing Duck Annual #1. Later reprinted as bonus content in the "Campaign Carnage" trade paperback, it was notably written by the original series' creator, Tad Stones, and as such, was also the only story from the Boom! Studios Darkwing Duck comic that did not have any of its dialogue rewritten for its reprint in Darkwing Duck: The Definitively Dangerous Edition.
Synopsis[]
At the pet store (which is full of numerous cameos), Drake Mallard is busy shopping for a pet, though his suggestion of a slime mold is not at all exciting for such an excitable child like Gosalyn. As he picks out a turtle and gives it to Gosalyn, a man suddenly runs up and demands Drake to give him the turtle.
While all this is going on, Gosalyn sees a message on the turtle's stomach: "PACK THE BUNGEE". She is then teleported into a clock tower and is made to witness Darkwing Duck falling to his death. Stunned from the vision, Gosalyn reappears in the pet store and has the turtle stolen by the man. Darkwing then appears to stop the theft, but the man vanishes and reappears in a supervillain costume. Now calling himself Chronoduck, he boasts that, thanks to the turtle being slow enough to crawl into the chronoplasm of time, he is able to travel through time and commit crimes before anybody even knows of them.
Darkwing anticipates that there's only one hideout for a time-obsessed villain: the St. Canard Clocktower. Gosalyn refuses to let him go for fear of what is now apparently a future vision of her father dying, but Darkwing insists on going and attempts to ambush Chronoduck. The villain teleports away, making Darkwing fall off the railing. Gosalyn, however, has prepared for the situation and throws Darkwing a bungee cord (just like the turtle warned), allowing him to bounce back and clobber Chronoduck.
Later that night, Drake Mallard finds himself utterly bewildered at trying to make sense of the time-space continuum. Gosalyn, naturally, is too busy walking her slime mold to help.
