Thebes, Greece is a major location in the 1997 Disney animated film Hercules. It is a busy, crime-infested city of turmoil that is prone to disaster 24/7 and full of crazy people. Hercules came here in order to become a true hero due to Phil's explanation that if someone makes it in Thebes, they can make it anywhere.

Trivia[]

There was another city of Thebes in the ancient world besides Greece, but Egypt, which was the capital of Egypt during the 11th, early 12th, 17th, and early 18th Dynasties respectively.
Thebes is also known as the Big Olive as referred to by Phil, a reference to New York City, which is also known as the Big Apple.
- Additionally, Phil stated that "If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.", a line from the theme song from the 1977 film New York, New York.
