  • One trilogy is popular around Christmas time: The Santa Clause films. However I noticed something recently that got me wondering:

Peter Boyle plays Scott Calvin's boss in the first film, and Father Time in the sequels.

Now we all know that Scott becomes Santa because the previous Santa fell off his roof and was killed. Scott put on Santa's jacket and became the new Santa Claus.

What if all or most the Legendary Figures seen in the sequels (Mother Nature, Father Time, Sandman, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Jack Frost, and Cupid) can be replaced with new people as well? Who's to say that some time between the events of the first and second films, Scott's boss encounters Father Time somewhere, events occur, and Scott's boss is now the new Father Time? It would make sense as to why Peter Boyle plays both characters in the films.

What if they all need something to become that Legendary Figure? Scott needed Santa's coat, maybe his boss needed Father Time's staff/crook.

    • Or his boss was secretly Father Time and manipulated events to ensure Scott became Santa.

That is an interesting theory, but then where was he in the third film when Jack becomes Santa? Shouldn't he have either intervened or at leasted helped Scott get back to his rightful position?

Given he's Father Time maybe he knew how it all turn out so there was no need for intervening on his part or maybe he did intervene and e just don't know it. I doubt the theory's true since it only sprang from the boss and FT being played by the same actor.

That's true, He could have been working behind the scenes.

It's not a true theory. It's a theory I made after repeated viewings of the trilogy. I just thought it'd be fun to discuss/speculate.
