- “Maybe this is the end.”
- ―Sharon Davis
"Through Many Miles / Of Tricks and Trials" is the third episode of the Disney+ streaming television miniseries Agatha All Along and was released on September 25, 2024. It was written by Cameron Squires and directed by Rachel Goldberg.
Synopsis[]
The coven faces their first perilous trial on the Witches' Road.
Plot[]
Agatha informs the coven that to reach the end of the Road, they will face Trials that focus on the different studies of Witchcraft. While on the way to the first trial, the coven learns of Teen's sigil, preventing witches from learning his name. At the first trial, the coven finds a house with a bottle of wine, which all of them drink (except Teen). A timer starts counting down, and Jennifer realizes the wine contained poison. Sharon, who drank first, faints. As they gather ingredients to create an antidote, each of them hallucinates: Lilia sees a young girl, Jennifer hallucinates a priest forcing her underwater, Alice sees her mother drinking a bottle of poison, and Agatha sees a crib containing a burnt Darkhold. As they prepare the antidote, they notice the house is now underwater. With a few seconds left on the timer, they finish the antidote and drink it, as well feed some to Sharon. As water pours into the house, they escape via a tunnel in the oven, leading them back to the road. As they get up, Teen sees that Sharon is dead.

Trivia[]
- Lilia Calderu says she blames Halloween for how people see witches, due to the pointy hats, green skin and brooms. This is likely referencing characters like the Wicked Witch of the West, who has this exact same appearance.
- Agatha would be dressed like this for the trial in "Death's Hand in Mine".
- When the exit to the water trial reveals itself to be through an oven door, Lilia doesn't want to climb into the oven because that happened to her friend once, and she described this friend as having a lovely house. This is a reference to the blind witch from the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.
- The leaves on the Witches Road are blue in colour to match the water trial that awaits the witches.
- Sharon's death at the end of the episode is foreshadowed three times in the episode: first when she falls and almost dies before being pulled into the mud, before being saved, then again when she says "maybe this is the end", when they see a nice house - as it would be the end for her - then finally when Sharon says "Bury me in that kitchen".
- Teen saying a lot happened to him at thirteen foreshadows his backstory in "Familiar by Thy Side".
- This episode marks the first time Mephisto is name dropped in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
- Jennifer tells Teen that Agatha traded her son Nicholas for the Darkhold, but "Maiden Mother Crone" reveals the truth behind Nicholas' death where it is shown that he died at the age of 6, when being a sick child and was born as a sick baby, in 1750. This implies that Agatha told people she traded her son for the Darkhold to avoid them finding out the truth about how Nicholas died. This is also backed up with the fact that Agatha said to Rio in a future episode that the truth about Nicholas is too painful.
