The Tiger Dancers are characters featured in Disney's 2016 animated feature film Zootopia. They are an all-male group of four tigers who serve as Gazelle's backup dancers.
Background[]
Personality[]
The tiger dancers are four unnamed tigers who serve as Gazelle's backup dancers, showing that they dance alongside her whenever Gazelle performs, particularly when it comes to the times when Gazelle performs on stage to impress her fans. In spite of this, they can occasionally appear in non-performance situations such as the time when Gazelle led a peace rally to protest against prejudice in a plan to end a hatred between prey and predators ever since the night howler effect providing a negative disadvantage for predators. This can imply that the tigers support Gazelle in situations where Gazelle is at. However, after Bellwether's arrest, this ended the prejudice between prey and predators, resulting in Gazelle and her backup dancers to perform in concert again.
Physical appearance[]
The tiger dancers are a group of four identical tigers where they are seen having the common colors of a tiger - each having orange fur with black stripes all around their body with a white accent on their torsos. They also wear sparkly black and silver shorts with trims and slits located on the sides. In addition to this, they are shown to be muscular when compared to their lower bodies as well as being shown to have large arms and paws.
Appearances[]
Zootopia[]
The tiger dancers are first seen on the Dancing with Gazelle mobile app where Clawhauser sees a recording of himself dancing with Gazelle where Clawhauser's face was placed onto one of the tiger dancers, which Clawhauser praises for his performance with Gazelle on the app. The app was later used by Chief Bogo for the same purpose - albeit with Bogo's head appearing on the tiger's head.
They later appear during the climax of the film where Gazelle leads a peace rally to end the prejudice between prey and predator where they are seen protesting against prejudice in a plan to stop the hatred while Gazelle comments of Zootopia being in the state of a negative effect of how predators are viewed. Because of this, it shows that the tiger dancers serve as Gazelle's bodyguards for her.
After Bellwether's arrest, this ended the prejudice between prey and predators, resulting in Gazelle and her backup dancers to perform again. During the credits, the tiger dancers are seen dancing with Gazelle in concert with various fans attending her concert while Gazelle sings "Try Everything" while the four tigers happily dance with her.
Other appearances[]
- The tiger dancers appear during the end credits of the Zootopia installment as part of the As Told by Emoji short series. Unlike most characters who are depicted as emojified versions of themselves, the tigers are depicted as full-bodied characters.
- While they do not physically appear in Zootopia+, the tiger dancers' models were reused for two male tigers named DJ Stripes and Sir Whiskers who serve as two of the three judges respectively in the episode "So You Think You Can Prance". The other tiger, Kitty Claws, who also serves as one of the three judges uses a completely different model unlike the former two.
Trivia[]
- Despite their small amount of screen time, the tiger dancers are sporadically featured as the main element of the discontinued Dancing with Gazelle online game, which was inspired by the fictional app seen in the film. It was an online game where the user could put their avatar onto one of the tigers dancing with Gazelle prior to the website being shut down at an unknown date.
