Tod's Mother appears in the beginning of The Fox and the Hound. She resembles a strong resemblance to Vixey, whom her son falls in love with later in the film.

The Fox and the Hound (Film)

Tod's mother is seen in the beginning of the film running through the woods holding baby Tod in her mouth, while trying to run from an off-screen hunting dog and hunter. Finally Tod's mother comes to a fence which is by Big Mama's tree, and Big Mama watches as Tod's mother puts him in some large grass underneath the fence post and then runs away, hearing the dog and hunter coming. Then gunshots are heard and Tod's Mom is killed off-screen.

  • Tod's Mother's death resembles the same as Bambi's Mother, as they were both were shot by hunters off screen.
  • Many fans believe that Amos Slade was the hunter off screen who killed Tod's Mother. But that might've been impossible, because Amos returned home from getting Copper that day, and Chief, his old hound dog, was resting at home.
