Thomas "Tommy" Davidson is an American comedian and film and television actor. For Disney, he provided the voice for Oscar Proud, the father in the Disney animated series The Proud Family. He reprised the role in The Proud Family Movie and the Lilo & Stitch crossover episode "Spats: Experiment #397". He also played Max in Santa Who? and Jumper in The Scream Team.
Born Anthony Reed in Greenville, Mississippi, he was abandoned in the trash at 18 months old, before being rescued by the woman who became his adoptive mother. He was a child of an interracial adoption, being that his adoptive parents are white. His parents changed his name to Thomas Davidson when they adopted him. After graduating high school in 1981, he attended the University of the District of Columbia while working various jobs.
Davidson started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1986 and won an amateur stand-up competition at the Apollo Theater in 1987. Soon afterwards, he moved to North Hollywood, California, where he continued to perform in clubs and open shows for other performers, like Luther Vandross. He later became a player on the sketch comedy show In Living Color and the sitcom Between Brothers. He made other appearances on shows, such as Martin, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Malcolm & Eddie, The Bernie Mac Show, Everybody Hates Chris, and Black Dynamite.
His film credits include Strictly Business, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Booty Call, Bamboozled, Black Dynamite (2009), and Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens.
