The Town Kids are a group of children featured in the 2021 Disney animated feature film Encanto. They consist of three kids living in the Encanto town: Juancho, who drinks coffee despite being young; Cecilia, who is the kindest and sweetest of her friends; and Alejandra, a noisy and rambunctious girl.
Background[]
- Innocent Cecilia: Cecilia was named after the baby of co-director Charise Castro Smith.
- Little Alejandra: Alejandra was named after the guide Alejandra Espinosa who took the filmmakers around Colombia.
- Pumped Juancho: Coffee addict Pumped Juancho was originally named Weecho but was changed to Juancho because it is more Colombian. He is a nod to Jose “Weecho” Velasquez, the development artist behind Mirabel's gorgeous stitched dress.[1]
- Other Kids: Other unnamed children appear during the musical number "The Madrigal Family" and inside the house.
Trivia[]
- In real life Colombia and other Latin American countries, many children start taking diluted coffee at an early age.[2]
- A few others, 4 children named Alma, Arturo, Hernando, and Jorge from the village, joined the group when they tried asking Mirabel about her gift during the song "The Family Madrigal."
- Other 2 children named Montse and Tonito they tried to head towards the door on the stairs which acts as a slide
