The Troll Doll (or simply Troll) is a character from Disney•Pixar's Toy Story franchise, first introduced in the 1995 animated feature film Toy Story.
Background[]
Physical appearance[]
Troll is a diminutive-sized troll-like being with a fuzzy hair sticking out from the top of a large head, and a pair of large eyes. The most common troll doll seen in the Toy Story franchise is the one formerly owned by Andy - specifically the one with pink hair wearing a blue bikini decorated with daisies.
Appearances[]
Toy Story[]
Troll is one of the toys seen standing with many other of Andy's toys at the opening of the film where Andy is using Mr. Potato Head to portray "One-Eyed Bart" to steal money from Hamm. Later, Troll appears with many other toys gathered to watch Buzz Lightyear demonstrating his "flying" abilities. She also appears during the "Strange Things" sequence where Buzz is seen combing her hair and later seen lifting weights made out of Tinker Toys, much to Woody feeling jealous of Buzz.
Later when Andy is preparing to leave for Pizza Planet, Troll became aware when Woody accidentally caused Buzz to get knocked off the window, where many other toys accuse him of doing it intentionally, although it was possible that Troll was not involved in this. Furthermore, Troll later appears seeing Woody who is at Sid's house and is seen losing trust in Woody when he held Buzz's severed arm. Later when Andy moves to a new home, Troll is seen with many of other of Andy's toys celebrating Christmas together while hearing what presents Andy received as announced by the Green Army Men.
Toy Story 2[]
Troll was seen with Bo Peep who agrees with her that Woody's hat is not in Molly's room. She also becomes aware when Woody alerts the other toys that a yard sale is occurring. She is last seen with the other toys having fun when Wheezy performs an upbeat version of "You've Got a Friend in Me".
Toy Story 3[]
Various troll dolls are seen portraying a group of orphans on a train during Andy's playtime in a fantasy sequence set in the Wild West. However, the consistent troll doll seen in the predecessor installments does make a cameo in one of Andy's home videos: one where Andy was playing with his toys, another during Molly's birthday, and another watching a movie on television. However, Troll was sold amongst many of other of Andy's toys after he grew up. Furthermore, smaller troll dolls are briefly seen noticing the arrival of Andy's toys at Sunnyside Daycare.
Other appearances[]
In Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins, Troll is seen at the beginning of the film gathered to watch a Buzz Lightyear movie on VHS.
Troll also appears in an interstitial for Good Morning America, amongst the rest of Andy's toys, as a means to promote Toy Story 2.
Disney Parks[]
Toy Story Parade[]
Troll was one of the characters in the defunct parade which formerly performed in Disney's Hollywood Studios appearing as an non-meetable atmosphere character as a means to promote Toy Story when it was in theaters.
Trivia[]
- Troll does not move her arms when she walks, which is unusual for a toy with limbs in the Toy Story franchise.
- However, in the former Toy Story Parade at Disney's Hollywood Studios, the Troll costume was given moving limbs.
- The troll dolls portraying the orphans in Toy Story 3 implies that Andy used to own not just the pink-haired variant wearing a bikini, but also various other troll dolls as well in the Toy Story franchise.
