Tyler Gremlin, also known as Tyler Trunklis, is a minor antagonist in the 2011 Disney/Pixar animated film Cars 2.
Background[]
Official Description[]
"While other boys in school had cool racing stripes, Tyler Gremlin was stuck with hockey-stick stripes, and they were cheap decals to boot. Picked on in school for his goofy graphics and lack of horse power, it came as no shock that his personality got a bit menacing as time went on. The mischievous Tyler would drive without his headlights on after the dark, or chain a police officer's chassis to a lamppost. He became so salty that if any car so much as tooted their horn they would get T-boned. Most cars learned to yield to him. If a car tried to stand up to him, they'd have to hit-and-run because he always came back swinging ... just like a hockey stick."[1]
Personality and traits[]
Due to growing up being ruthlessly picked on and mistreaded by his peers, Tyler developed a mean streak a mile wide. He is so spiteful and short tempered that most other cars and other vehicles give him a wide birth to avoid his rancorous wrath.
Like all the other Lemons, Tyler Gremlin is a cold-hearted terrorist who would do anything for a quick buck. Apparently, he is very homicidal because he was involved in the death of Rod "Torque" Redline.
He is also very sadistic for attempting to abduct Mater until Hans and two other vehicles yelled at him.
Physical appearence[]
Tyler is an AMC Gremlin that is painted red, with black "hockey stripes" on his doors (though they are not seen in the film), similar to other Gremlins in the film. He has a black grille and grey rims, and a license plate that reads "WREKD".
Weaponry and Gadgets[]
In Cars 2: The Video Game, Tyler Gremlin uses two weapons:
- Energy Leech: in the Survival Mode he uses the Energy Leech when the player los his boost.
- Missile Launcher: He uses the Missile Launcher to fire and hurt the player.
Appearences[]
Cars 2[]
Tyler was seen when C.H.R.O.M.E. agent Finn McMissile discovered when his friend Leland Turbo was crushed into a cube by Professor Zündapp at a Lemon Oil Rig, after that when Finn exploded some lemons, he was with a crowd of lemon cars to kill McMissile. Later, he is seen delivering an Allinol tank to be attached to Rod "Torque" Redline. Then, he was smiling when Rod "Torque" Redline was going to be hit by the electric pulse camera with the group of Lemons behind that. Another red Gremlin appears connecting the tank of Allinol to Rod and later appears as one of the Lemons in the back alley. He, however doesn't have black stripes like Tyler.
Eventually, Finn McMissile came over to Lightning McQueen’s pit to stop Acer and Petey Pacer from entering and attacking Mater. Once Finn sprayed them with foam from a fire extinguisher and began to flee, countless members of the Lemons started to chase him.
Tyler Gremlin is driving quietly down the road in search of Mater, but Finn uses his hook to knock over a vending machine in front of Tyler, which causes Han to wake up and suspect that Tyler was the culprit, so he and two others proceed to yell at him. It is unknown what happened to him afterwards, though it is possible that Han and his other two friends made him pay for the destruction of their vending machine.
Cars 2: The Video Game[]
In Cars 2: The Video Game, Tyler Gremlin appears in the intro with Fred, Petey with other Hugos and Professor Z with a kidnapped Finn McMissile, later Mater was sent to rescue Finn and Finn pushes them, later Tyler with Grem and Acer and other lemons exploded.
Tyler appears in Survival Mode without his bumper, where the player needs to destroy him and steal his energy, which will increase the power of their Shield to survive Professor Z's attack. He is not playable, but has been made playable by use of Mods.
NDS Version[]
In the NDS version of Cars 2: The Video Game at the Oil Rig Arena, if Tyler falls into the ocean, he will have Acer's screaming voice.

Trivia[]
- Tyler's last name "Gremlin" is the name of his model.
- On the packaging for his die-cast version, his eyes are brown, but on the actual toy, they're incorrectly green.
- According to his die-cast version, his license plate is WREKD, short for "wrecked", which is the same as Grem's and Don Crumlin's.
- Diecast product listings refer to him as "Tyler Trunklis", implying that this was his name in the initial version of the film. It was likely changed so that every Lemon of the same family would share the same last name, the only exceptions being Don Crumlin, and Stefan Gremsky.
