"Ultrahyperball" is the thirty-sixth episode of the first season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. It premiered on September 29, 2015.
Synopsis[]
When the fate of two alien planets is tied to the outcome of a sporting event, Penn finds a loophole in the game and must convince the two opposing coaches Wallace and Jackie to admit their love for each other in order to save both planets.
Plot[]
The episode starts at The Odyssey, where Phyllis serves dinner to the heroes. Penn asks her what did they do to deserve the dinner, which she tells him they didn't make any mistakes and that is better to do something unexpected. When the heroes rise their cups to honor her, she lifts them and zaps them into the world.
Penn zaps in as a Tarbgarb just before he gets tackled by a red one. Sashi and Boone, also Tarbgarbs, appear next to Penn as the camera zooms far away, revealing that they are on a huge game field on an asteroid between two other asteroids, both having a huge row of seats where the spectator aliens watch. Penn asks Sashi to check her specs and she does so; they are on a game of "ultrahyperball" between the Tarbgarbs and Blargtarbs and they must end the game. The winner team gets a giant pizza while the loser team gets their planet destroyed. The game's announcers appear, with the announcer Tarbgarb saying that each team have been trying to break this game's stalemate for over 5000 years. The announcer Blargtarb says that this is just a game and he hopes everyone he knows and loves doesn't get wiped out in his planet. The announcer Tarbgarb asks the announcer Blargtarb about his kids, in which he says he hasn't seen them since a decade ago.
In the game field, the heroes form a circle with three other Tarbgarbs as Penn asks Sashi the game's rules. However, when Sashi checks her specs, it ends up malfunctioning as Sashi toss them away, exploding on the floor. Sashi says the game's rules are too complicated that they crashed her specs. Penn sees Jackie, the Tarbgarb team's coach, and approaches her, asking her how to win the game. However, she tells him that nobody knows how to win the game. Wallace, the Blargtarb team's coach, teases Jackie, annoying her and then she pushes Penn away as he is embarrassing her. Penn goes to his teammates to tell them his plan. The purple referee blows his whistle to start the game. Rippen, a Blargtarb, says he is a natural athlete as he has 3 gym memberships and laughs, but the referee gives him a penalty for doing an evil laugh. Larry appears as a cheerleader Blargtarb to cheer Rippen. The referee then tosses the ball to Penn, leading to the Blargtarbs to chase him who is carrying the ball. While dodging the Blargtarbs, Penn trips on a "wacky square", activating a door with a sign saying "KNOCK ON ME AND WIN!" The announcers say that he only has to knock it for the Tarbgarbs win the game. When Penn is about to knock the door, various giant blasters appear from an asteroid below the game field and point at the Blargtarbs. Then, a space pizza vehicle labelled "La Bella Pizza" appears, about to deliver pizza for the Tarbgarbs as they celebrate. Sashi tells Penn to knock the door, but he change his mind, saying that blowing up a planet is not heroic and, quoting Phyllis, that he has to find an unexpected way to end the game. Penn runs out of the wacky square, deactivating the door as the giant blasters and the space pizza vehicle go away, much to the Blargtarbs' relief and Tarbgarbs' dismay.
Penn tosses the ball at Boone, who is buying churros, but ends up hitting the churro seller. The announcers point out that churros are a crowd's favorite food in centuries. Rippen approaches Boone to get his churros, leading Boone to flee, allowing him to eat the churros, but the referee gives him a penalty for churro theft. The coaches Wallace and Jackie appear next to the referee and argue as they angrily kick the floor, covering the referee in dirt. Penn, after seeing the two coaches arguing, gets an idea of how to end the game and approaches Jackie, asking her the deal between her and Wallace, which she tells him that they were friends who used to play ultrahyperball when they were kids, but they couldn't stay together due to them being different alien species. She then starts to cry, trying to contain her love for Wallace. Wallace, watching Penn and Jackie, cries to contain his love for Jackie too. He then gets approached by Rippen, who asks him if he can go back to the game, which Wallace tells him he got penalty for doing an evil laugh, so he gives Rippen a giant book containing the game's rules. Rippen asks him if the rulebook says how to win the game, which Wallace says the last time someone tried to read it, his eyes fell out.
Penn tells his teammates that they have to help Jackie find her love and then they all split up while shouting "Matchmaker!". In a montage, while the two coaches are arguing, Penn puts a bouquet in Wallace's hand so he can offer it to Jackie, but they end up still arguing. In another attempt, Sashi drips Wallace in green liquids, so he takes his shirt off, revealing his chest and shakes his hair to get rid of the liquid, calling Jackie's attention. Meanwhile, Rippen is reading the rule as he gets cheered by the cheerleader Blargtarbs. The two coaches are still arguing as Penn and Sashi bring a dinner table to them so they can do a dinner date, but the coaches resume arguing. The announcers point out the Tarbgarb team trying to make the coaches fall in love with each other as they are dancing in the sport field. The coaches then confess their love as Jackie asks Wallace to marry her, shocking both the Tarbgarbs and Blargtarbs in gasp. The referee points out that wedding is not allowed in the game and that Penn has to appeal to the Elder Referee if he wants the coaches marry. Penn, along with Sashi and Boone, accept appealing to the Elder Referee, shocking the Tarbgarbs and Blargtarbs in gasp even more.
So, the heroes go through a journey filled with obstacles to reach the Elder Referee's temple. After reaching it, the Elder Referee is revealed to be a big purple blob with multiple eyes and whistles. Penn asks them if they are the Elder Referee, which communicates by spitting, doing a fart sound. Penn asks them if they can tweak the rules and make so that the game ends by having the two coaches marry, which the Elder Referee replies by spitting again. Penn thanks them for their decision.
At the game field, Penn is declaring the two coaches' wedding as the referee declares that once the two coaches kiss, the game will finally end in a draw. Meanwhile, Rippen, reading through the book, finally finds how to win the game, which was just popping the ball. Rippen sees and approaches the ball while the two coaches are about to kiss. However, when Rippen is just about to pop it, the two coaches kiss just before the ball pops, leading the game to end in a draw, much to Rippen's dismay. After the game has ended, the two announcers are wondering what will they do to the rest of their lives after the game ended, ending the episode.
