"Uncle Pat in Charge" is the first segment of the fifty-sixth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Uncle Pat takes babysitting Kiff very seriously.
Plot[]
Pat has agreed to babysit Kiff at the Chatterley residence on his weekend off while Martin and Beryl attend Martin's clown school reunion. Not wanting to jeopardize his new responsible image, Pat decides to forgo his usual fun antics and take a more responsible approach to babysitting, to the disappointment of Kiff and Barry, who opted to spend the weekend with Kiff and Pat instead of joining the other Bunses on their trip to the water park.
While watching Let's Table That with Kiff and Barry, Pat turns the volume down to protect their "delicate growing eardrums", leaving them unable to understand anything. Eventually, Pat decides that the children should be watching something more educational and switches the channel to Table Town News, which is reporting on an ongoing crime spree by "The Glamdals", a gang of masked vandals who break into unguarded homes throughout Table Town and replace old furniture with newer, fancier furniture. Pat also refuses to let Kiff and Barry handle the remote, fearing Martin's reaction should the children accidentally damage it. For snacks, Pat prepares Kiff and Barry healthy, sugar-free beet jelly sandwiches, which the two are disgusted by. While wrapping napkins around their necks, however, Pat accidentally gets a jelly stain on Kiff's head. A panicked Pat takes Kiff to the bathroom to clean her fur. Following directions from the Internet, Barry tries to help by using a textured cloth to scrub the stain off, but the cloth he uses turns out to be Beryl's wedding dress.
While washing the wedding dress in the laundry room, Pat suddenly hears a loud scream, causing him to drop the bottle of bleach in his hand. He rushes to the living room, only to discover that the noise is actually Terri screaming in a video Barry's family sent from the water park. Smelling "toxic bleach fumes" from the dropped bleach bottle, Pat has Kiff and Barry evacuate to the backyard, then joins them there after opening every door and window in the house to let the fumes out. To give the children something to do while waiting for the house to air out, Pat brings out a deflated basketball for Kiff and Barry to play with, then wraps the duo in protective bubble wrap, which they are unable to move in.
Eight hours later, Kiff, Barry, and Pat go back inside and find that the living room has been "glamdalized" by the Glamdals. Although Kiff and Barry are excited by the brand new furniture, Pat is devastated, knowing that Beryl and Martin will think less of him if they find out he allowed criminals to break into their home. Kiff spots a pack of matches left behind by the Glamdals, which bears the logo of the Shady Abandoned Warehouse in the Outskorts and the message "Shhh". Assuming the warehouse to be the Glamdals' headquarters, Kiff and Barry propose journeying there to retrieve their stolen furniture. Pat contemplates whether to agree to Kiff and Barry's plan, but he takes so long to decide that the duo end up taking him along on their trip to the warehouse without him realizing it.
Kiff, Barry, and Pat find "Shhh" written in glitter on the entrance of the warehouse. Inside, the three come across Gram Gram and her nephews, who are also there to recover their furniture under similar circumstances. They all follow a trail of glitter to a locked door leading to a dark room. Inside the room, a TV suddenly turns on and broadcasts a video message from one of the Glamdals. The masked Glamdal taunts the viewers of the message for failing to locate the Glamdals and tells them that they will be receiving goodie bags containing new Ypads on the way out. The TV then explodes in a cloud of glitter, and sure enough, everyone finds themselves holding Ypad goodie bags.
Still without their furniture, Kiff, Barry, and Pat leave the warehouse. After some hesitation, Pat proposes a new plan. He explains that the furniture was originally bought by Rose as a wedding gift for Martin, but due to her strong belief in sibling equality, she bought the same set of furniture for Pat, which he still keeps in a storage unit. With one hour left before Martin and Beryl return from their trip, Kiff, Barry, and Pat move Pat's furniture into the Chatterley house, swapping out the fancy furniture installed by the Glamdals and making sure to replicate every single detail about the old furniture, right down to the dried mustard stain on the couch.
Just in time for Beryl and Martin's arrival, Kiff, Barry, and Pat finish carrying out their plan. Beryl and Martin walk inside the house to find the three watching TV in the living room, and they compliment Pat on a babysitting job well done. On TV, Table Town News reports that the warehouse has burst into flames in a "glitter-related" explosion. Martin decides to change the channel and is confused to find a solid gold, jewel-encrusted remote, which Kiff, Barry, and Pat are unable to explain.
