"Upside-Down Day" is the first segment of the eleventh episode of the 2018 version of Muppet Babies. It premiered on June 29, 2018.[1]
Synopsis[]
When Summer has a case of bad-day-itis, Gonzo's cure is turning the whole playroom upside down.
Plot[]
Miss Nanny is reading ‘Seymour the Baby Seal’ to the kids. Just then, Summer arrives, in a pretty bad mood. When her friends ask her why she’s upset, Summer explains how everything has been going wrong for her all day: she spilled her cereal at breakfast, forgot her crayons at home, stubbed one of her flippers, and missed one of her favorite stories after arriving late.
After examining her, Gonzo comes to the conclusion that Summer has a case of bad-day-itis, and that there’s only one cure for it: the Clever Lever. By pulling it, Gonzo turns the entire playroom upside down. At first, Summer still feels a bit down, but begins to cheer up once they start conga dancing around the ceiling light like a campfire. Once Summer feels happy again, the Muppets all stack up on top of each other to reach the lever, putting the playroom back right side up again.
It is now lunchtime and Summer has brought a sardine sandwich, herring chips and ice cold milk. But when she opens her lunchbox, she finds her milk has spilled all over everything, making her lunch soggy. This makes her feel upset again, and Gonzo declares that they all head outside, where there’s another lever. Upon pulling it, they turn the entire backyard upside down. Things start going well, until they get rained on by sand, tomatoes and eggs. Summer doesn’t think the plan is working and decides to flip the lever back. However, she only ends up turning it halfway, which turns the whole yard sideways.
Summer is now very frustrated and upset, not only because of her bad day, but also because her misery has made her friends miserable as well. Officially giving up, Summer declares it to be the worst day ever. But Kermit and the others try to cheer her up. They then sing a song about how she’s never alone.
After the song, Summer feels better, knowing that her friends would always be there for her no matter how bad things get. The Muppets then stack up on top of each other and are able to flip the switch back to normal, thus putting everything back right side up again. Miss Nanny then comes out and is glad to see that Summer is feeling better. She then asks Miss Nanny if she could read ‘Seymour the Baby Seal’ again, which she is happy to oblige.
