Rian Craig Johnson is an American film and television producer, director, screenwriter and actor. He is best known for writing and directing Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper, and Knives Out. This last film earned him nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

He also directed three episodes of the television series Breaking Bad, and one of these episodes ("Fifty-One") won the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series in 2013.

For Disney, he wrote and directed The Last Jedi and is working to develop an upcoming spinoff Star Wars trilogy.[1]
