Hello, everyone. Well, now, 2015 is offically over as most of you know and it is now 2016. That means a whole new year of potential blockbusters. Now, I know most of you are going to start making your own most anticipated films of 2016 soon enough, so I wanted to jump on the bandwagon before everyone else does. So, in no particular order, here are my most anticipated films of 2016, Disney or otherwise. Keep in mind this list may change as time goes on, so be alert.
The Jungle Book (2016 film)[]
Now, I have previously made a blog expressing my thoughts on the trailer and my opinion remains pretty much unchanged from then. I think this movie is going to be awesome. And I heard recently that the film may not be quite as dark as I thought it was going to be. Jon Favreau, the director, said that it was going to be like a mixture of an action-adventure film and the 1960 film as far as tone goes. I like those kinds of films that balance action and comedy, and I think this could be that too. So, yeah, my opinion from the blog I made about the trailer pretty much remains unchanged. I look forward to it.

Independence Day: Resurgence[]
After over 20 years, those aliens from the 1996 film Independence Day have finally returned with a vengeance. Now, even though Roland Emmerich did ruin the Godzilla name at one point, he has done a few movies that I love. Like 2012, Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day. I do genuinely enjoy Independence Day and watch it a little bit when it comes on on the 4th of July. In my eyes, the plot pretty much aims to be the Jurassic World of the Independence Day universe, where the aliens attacked 20 years ago, and now they come back. But, UNLIKE Jurassic World, this one actually has most of the original cast returning, like Jeff Goldblum is going to be back, as well as Bill Pullman (no Will Smith though, sorry). Now the only thing I'm worried about with this film is its box office performance. I don't want it to bomb since I look forward to it, but I'm worried it could due to the massive amount of movies coming that month, such as Finding Dory. So, I look forward to Independence Day: Resurgence quite a bit. I'm up for anything about giant monstrous things blowing up cities. So, if it's good, you bet I'll catch it in IMAX.

The BFG[]
A little known fact about me. The BFG (short for Big Friendly Giant) is actually one of my favorite children's books ever. It is a book made by Roald Dahl (did I spell that right?), who is also known for doing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr. Fox, both of which were converted into films (Willy Wonka was converted twice AND made into REAL candy ). This story, the BFG, revolved around the adventures of a friendly giant with dumbo-sized ears and his human friend, Sophie, as they try to save the world from savage 60-foot tall giants that like to eat humans. When I heard a movie was going to be made, I was already eager, but when I heard good ol' Stephen Spielberg was directing, that pretty much guarantees this movie is going to be good. So, yeah, Big Friendly Giant, I can't wait for that one.
Godzilla: Resurgence[]
I know what you are thinking. What? Godzilla's getting another reboot so soon? The answer is yes AND no. While it IS another reboot, it's NOT being made by Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. No. It's actually being made by the original Godzilla creators and rights owners Toho. It's a Japanese reboot. I really, REALLY hope this film gets a US release in theaters, because I'm really looking forward to this, mainly due to the fact that what I heard the director Shinji Higuchi (who previously directed this year's live-action Attack On Titan movie ) is going to be doing with it in terms of style and tone. Special Effects-wise, It's going to be a mixture of the man in suit days of yore with CGI to make the suit look more realistic. That sounds awesome. And to make matters even better, when asked what the tone will be like for the film, Higuchi said the tone was going to be "nightmare", and he said it was going to be the scariest Godzilla yet. So, does that mean that they're going to be making this movie, "1954 2.0"? I hope so. Toho, please please PLEASE give this movie a US theatrical release, because I look forward to this.

GhostBusters[]
The Ghostbusters are finally back, but not quite the way you remember them. Now, it seems as though the Ghostbusters are going to be an all-girl group this time around. Initially, I wasn't quite sure about that, since I have fond memories of the antics of Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd, but I now think this movie has a chance to be good. Plus, this movie has a good director attached to it. Paul Feig, who previously did Bridesmaids and Spy, while I have seen neither, I am aware that both of them were very well-received. Plus, probably by no coincidence, he also worked with Kristen Wiig and Melissa Mcartheny on those films. So, yeah, I look forward to Ghostbusters quite a bit and want to see how it turns out. But, I do have one hope for this film though: I hope the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is in this. He's an icon. You can't do Ghostbusters without him. But, hey, even if he's not in it, at least we got Slimer back.
An all-new team of all-women Ghostbusters has arrived. Not only do they have to fight off evil spirits. They also have to take on angry Internet commenters.
Zootopia[]
This film, IMO, seems pretty awesome. Mainly because I kind of like the idea behind it, where there is a city where these animals are persecuted based on what species they are and what they do in life. Plus, the trailer from what I saw was pretty funny. To me, this movie seems to be Bojack Horseman, without all the humans or the satire on Hollywood, and made into a murder caper. That sounds like a good movie to me. Initially, I was confused as to why there were no birds and reptiles in Zootopia, but I eventually learned the reason and grew to accept it. Nick Wilde to me pretty much guaranteed to be funny from what I've been seeing. He's a con-artist fox that likes to screw around with people and trip them. I find those kinds of characters to be funny. I still kind of think Will Arnett would been a better voice for that kind of character, but I have faith in Jason Bateman. I think Zootopia is going to be a very good movie.
Ultraman (2016)???[]
This was originally NOT going to be on my list at all because I did not know this movie was probably coming out until a few days ago. Now, surprisingly, I'm not really that into the Ultraman television and film series, which is strange considering my love and passion for Kaiju films, superheroes, and cities getting torn down, so you'd think a franchise that mixes all 3 of those together would be right up my alley. But, surprisingly not, even though I am aware of the massive cult following the series has. I just never got around to being a fan of Ultraman. But, apparently, Ultraman is getting a reboot. I wasn't sure this was real because I searched all over for information about this film but could not find it, but apparently, it is, as the company making it put a little ad in the description like most companies do when a copyrighted material gets uploaded to Youtube by someone that's not them, so it must be a real movie coming out soon. And after seeing the trailer, I thought: This actually looks...really awesome. Like Godzilla, if this movie is really coming, I hope this gets a theatrical release here in the US, because I'm actually interested in seeing this. For those unaware, Ultraman is a series by Japanese company, Tsuburaya Productions, where a man accidentally gets hit by a mysterious flying object while going for a flight in his jet. He should've died, but instead survived and is given strange extraterrestrial powers, such as the ability to turn into the alien superhero Ultraman. And this man uses his powers to save the world from evil aliens and rampaging Kaiju. So, yeah, this trailer officially has me interested in the film and I hope Tsuburaya gives it a US release.
Gamera (2016)[]
Wow, with all the Kaiju films being pumped out, I may end up having to make a seperate list just for them. Because now, Gamera is getting back in on the action in a new reboot that was supposed to be released in 2015, but now it's more likely be released sometime in 2016 because of how long it took for this trailer to show up. But, now it's here and boy does it look awesome. For the unfamiliar, Gamera is a Kaiju created by Japanese company Daei and is now owned by Kadodawa Pictures. He was created specifically to rival Godzilla's success but gained popularity in his own right. And the trailer for his new movie actually looks REALLY awesome. From the looks of it, it looks like Gamera will not only be facing Gyaos, his old nemesis, but he will also be fighting an entirely new creature which created this little ball of energy thing to blow up a building. I don't really have much to say about it that's really all different from Ultraman and Godzilla. This looks cool. It BETTER get a US release, at least a limited one.

Superman vs Batman: Dawn of Justice[]
The newest addition to this list is a DC superhero movie: Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, it's pretty much well-known that DC is now attempting to create a cinematic universe of their very own with their very own superheroes, such as Superman, Batman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, etc, which an effort that wish them good luck with. With Man of Steel, Suicide Squad, an upcoming Wonder Woman movie, and THIS! The first installment of this new saga was Man of Steel, which I personally enjoyed quite a lot actually. It was a different story of Superman that we never really saw before. It may not have been perfect, but it was very entertaining and don't really understand why people are SO divisive over it. Now, next year, he and Batman will be facing off against each other in this movie. Honestly, I wasn't really looking forward to it all that much, but now I'm starting to come back around to it and now I actually want to see it quite a lot. It gives me hope that this new DC universe will be a hit. One thing I like that the universe is doing is that it's having events from past movies play an important role in this movie. The trailer suggests the the events of Man of Steel with the destruction of Metropolis during the battle between Superman and General Zod is actually the reason Bruce Wayne becomes Batman in the first place and he wants revenge on Superman. He seems to want to avenge the people of Metropolis. But, the reason I'm kind worried about this is that it seems to want to cram so many things into one movie in so little time. It wants to introduce Wonder Woman, have Lex Luthor, have Batman and Superman fight and NOW Doomsday's in it all of a sudden. With SO many plot points it seems to be shoving in, it seems more convoluted and forced than Amazing Spiderman 2 was. But, let's hope it turns out great. Let's hope DC can make a great and entertaining cinematic universe like Marvel.
The Man of Steel and the Dark Knight go out it in an all-out brawl. Oh, and Wonder Woman's there, too.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows[]
Personally, I'm up for another round of cowabunga ninja action. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in an all-new installment and it looks flipping awesome. Now, I got to be honest with you, I'm one of those people out there that kind of defended the first Ninja Turtles. It just kind of succeeded in being what I think a Ninja Turtles movie should be: FUN! None of these TMNT movies were ever really high art. And this new one looks fun as heck. This new version does look like it's going to be an updated version of the old TMNT from 1987. To be honest, I know I'm probably going to infuriate a lot of people, but I've never kind of gotten around to the old 80's cartoon. It was just a bit too cheesy for my taste. I personally grew up on the later versions from 2003 and 2012. But, I do respect why that old 80's series was so popular, and it does indeed look like a, big-budget, edgier version of it, an idea I'm on board with. It's got Shredder (unmasked), Casey Jones, Shredder's rhino and warthog goons, Bebop and Rocksteady, and it seems as though that Krang is going to make an appearance. It looks like it's going to be one heck of a ride.
The Ninja Turtles are back for more Cowabunga action. Not only taking on Shredder, but a new alien threat named Krang.
And that's my list of 2016 films I anticipate the most. Now, once again, this list MAY change as time goes on, so be alert. Plus, not all the trailers for these movies are out yet, but once they are released, I will put them up as soon as possible. Do you agree with this list? If not, what would you put in?
