Hello everyone. As you all know, The Rescuers and it’s sequel, The Rescuers Down Under are two of my favorite Disney classics. But it’s a real shame no more sequels were made, since mice traveling around the world to save people really seemed like a great franchise. But thanks to that box-office nonsense I despise and Eva Gabor’s death, all Rescuers sequels were gone....until today, that is. It took me 2 weeks, but I made my own sequel using my comic book skills. If there’s anything I’ve learned from Internet fandom, it’s that if you want a certain story or sequel to exist, you have to make it yourself. And that’s exactly what I did (I also used these skills to make my own Mr. Peabody and Sherman sequel, but since that’s not Disney, I wasn’t sure if you wanted to hear about it). Of course, since I used pre-existing characters that already exist, I can’t publish it or upload it. That, and I’m not good at scanning. But I can at least tell you about here. I call it The Rescuers In Canada. I chose Canada because when I was thinking of a global location, Canada echoed in my head the most, so I just went with that. Now some aspects of the story might seem a little familiar, but I am honestly not good at making completely original stories. But let me tell you about it now. This is The Rescuers In Canada.

Characters[]

First I want to tell you about the characters. Characters from The Rescuers films include Bernard, Bianca, the Chairmouse, and Wilbur of course. But this section is about characters native to the comic book.

Boris-Bernard and Bianca’s enthusiastic 8 year old son who dreams of one day becoming a Rescue Aid Society Agent like his parents.

Beatrix-Bernard and Bianca’s gothic tomboyish 9 year old daughter. Like her brother Boris, she dreams of adventure as a Rescue Aid Society Agent. She often gets slightly sassy due to Bernard’s overprotective concern for her and Boris.

Melanie Robertson-A 14 year old girl in Canada who is next in line to inherit her father’s maple syrup company. She has the responsibility of looking out for her brother Liam after her mother passed away of pneumonia.

Liam Robertson-Melanie’s four year old brother who has trouble developing his language skills.

Caleb Graham-The main antagonist of the comic book sequel. He is the owner of Canada’s worst selling maple syrup company. Not only does he want to steal the Robertson family recipe, but he also wants the family fortune.

Dylan the wolf and Wyatt the mountain lion-Graham’s predatory pets. Graham keeps them happy by feeding them meat from moose he hunts.

Mason Tremblay-The secondary antagonist of the comic book sequel. He is Graham’s hired safecracker. He often skeptical of his partners’ tactics, but is quickly threatened by Dylan and Wyatt.

Sam the Possum and Martin the Canadian Toad--Two animals who specialize in riding RC controlled vehicles and help the rescuers family get around Canada. A running gag with Sam is that he likes to hang upside down when driving or riding. A running gag with Martin is that he often forgets to check the batteries of the RC vehicles even though it’s his job.

Henry the moose-Leader of the moose herd whom Caleb has been hunting to feed Dylan and Wyatt. He and his moose herd are ore than happy to help the rescuers defeat Graham in revenge for hunting them.

Plot[]

My comic book sequel begins with Mr. Robertson, the owner of High Sky Syrup the most successful maple syrup company in Canada. Mr. Robertson tells Melanie that one day she will inherit the family business. Melanie is eager to start sooner, but Mr. Robertson tells her that right now she is needed to watch over her younger brother Liam who has had trouble speaking ever since their mother died. On the way home, Melanie and Liam cross paths with Wyatt. An animal control officer appears claiming to rescue them, but he is really an evil man named Caleb Graham with the intention of kidnapping the Robertson children. He tranquilizes Melanie and Liam. It also turns out that Wyatt is Graham’s pet as well as a wolf named Dylan. Luckily, a little brown mouse witnesses the abduction and immediately sends a telegram to the Rescue Aid Society. Unfortunately, this is an inopportune time because ALL the Rescue Aid Society agents are busy with other RAS assignments. This leaves the chair mouse no choice but to ask help from Bernard and Bianca, despite the fact that they have retired from the Rescue Aid Society to raise their children. And speaking of which, we cut to Bernard and Bianca’s children Boris and Beatrix. They sneak into the local candy store during business hours, despite Bernard telling them never to do so. When they get back home, Bernard scolds them for disobeying him. After telling them off, Bianca thinks they should take a family trip to reconnect with their children. At the moment, the chairmouse comes in and tells them about the situation with Melanie and Liam. Bernard and Bianca agree to take the case, despite their retirement. Although Bernard is reluctant, Boris and Beatrix come along since they don’t have time to find a babysitter. With the help of Wilbur, the family flies to Canada. When they get there, they are greeted by Sam the possum and Martin the toad who have come to help by transporting them in RC vehicles. Meanwhile, Graham reveals to Melanie that he is the owner of “Squeez Pus-rup” (named after zit squeezing because of his acne issues as a kid), The worst selling maple syrup company in Canada. Graham warns Melanie that if she doesn’t give her the family recipe or the location of the safe where the Robertson fortune is hidden by dawn, he threatens to feed Liam to Wyatt or Dylan. At the moment, the rescuers family make it to Melanie and Liam’s house where they find a man named Mason Tremblay ransacking the house looking for the safe of the Robertson inheritance. He then gets a call from Graham, thus revealing that he is associated with Graham to the rescuers. After the rescuers follow Tremblay to Graham’s hideout, they travel through the vent to find and free Melanie. But at the moment, Wyatt wakes up hearing voices and corners Melanie. Taking a big risk, Beatrix distracts Wyatt to give Melanie, Bernard, and Bianca time to find Liam. During the chase she is corned by Dylan who also want to eat her. Boris saves her by throwing marbles at the beasts, who crash into Graham and Tremblay. While the villains are still down, Boris steals the key and the heroes unlock Liam from his birdcage. As the group escapes, Melanie accidentally leaves behind her locket, the only thing she has left of her mother. Graham finds it and orders Dylan to track Melanie and Liam down. Melanie, Liam, and the rescuers family make it to their summer log cabin where Melanie attempts to call the police about her kidnapping. Just then, Graham bursts in and recaptures the children. Tremblay find the safe containing the Robertson behind a portrait of Melanie’s great great grandmother who invented to High Sky company syrup. He cracks the safe and steals the family recipe and money. Graham intends to take the inheritance back to the hideout for safekeeping and feed the Robertson children to Wyatt and Dylan. Bernard and Bianca climb into the car’s engine, but Boris and Beatrix fall behind. They try to sprint to catch up, but fall behind. Just as they give up hope, Sam and Martin arrive with their friend Henry the moose, due to Martin’s failure to change their RC car AND drones’ batteries. Henry tells the rescuers children that Graham has been hunting his moose herd to feed Wyatt and Dylan and they are eager to get their revenge on him. So they take Boris and Beatrix on a shortcut. Meanwhile, Bernard and Bianca stop the car by emptying the fuel tank supply. As Tremblay attempts to fix the car, Boris, Beatrix, Sam, Martin, Henry, and the moose herd stampede in to attack. Graham is rammed in the car, Wyatt and Dylan are chased onto a log floating down the river, and one of the moose body slams on Tremblay. As Melanie and Liam attempt to escape with the inheritance, Graham grabs Melanie’s braided ponytail, but is forced to let go in pain as Boris bites his hand. As Henry takes the group away to safety, the rest of the moose herd tramples Graham to death. Liam finally speaks to thank the rescuers family, much to Melanie’s joy. Sometime later, Bernard and Bianca are accepted back into the Rescue Aid Society. Not only that, but they have also allowed Boris and Beatrix in as well, as they were impressed with their heroic actions in Canada. Bernard then tells the children the outcomes of some of the other characters given in reports from Sam and Martin. Mr. Robertson promises to spend more time with the children, helping Liam speak more and taking some of Melanie’s ideas into account. Graham’s “Squeez Pus-rup” company is permanently shut down because of his crimes...and also because his syrup tasted terrible like burnt wood anyway. Mason Tremblay suffered brain damage and paralyzation in his arms and legs because of the moose body slamming on him. He is kept in a wheelchair in prison where he has no chance of cracking safes and stealing from them ever again. Boris and Beatrix are also happy because now they get to go on rescue missions as a family now. And that’s the end of the story.

References to The Rescuers films.[]

Several times throughout the comic book, I made references to the films.

  • When Bernard is scolding Boris and Beatrix for disobeying him,Boris reminds him that he and Bianca did “crazy” stuff like facing crocodiles and riding Australian animals. He of course is referring to their encounter with Brutus and Nero from the first film, and when they rode on the flying squirrel, snake, fireflies, Razorback, and Marahute in The Rescuers Down Under.
  • When the rescuers family ask for Wilbur’s help, he makes them promise not to leave him hanging like what happened in Australia. Bernard exasperatedly reminds him that he got Marahute to back for him and relieve him of his egg sitting task. That is an acknowledgment to when Wilbur had to sit on Marahute’s eggs and the film’s epilogue. That is also my way of reassuring readers and Rescuers fans that the characters did relieve him of his egg sitting tasks.
  • As the family is flying towards Canada, Beatrix asks Bianca to tell them the stories on how they rescued Penny and Cody. After Melanie’s interrogation scene, we cut to the ending on how Bernard saved Cody. Boris asks about what happened to the animal prisoners at McLeach’s compound (Frank, Red, Krebbs, and so forth). Bernard reassures him that after Cody reunited with his mother he told the rangers about the animal prisoners and that they were indeed rescued. That is something I made up in my version.
  • After Bernard lectures Boris on taking the Rescue Aid Society’s job seriously in Graham’s vent, Bianca comforts Boris that Bernard is really a brave and caring mouse which is why she chose him as her partner in the first film (at least that’s how I interpreted it).
  • When Tremblay is cracking the safe to steal the Robertson inheritance he mumbles the combination out loud which is 1, 9, 7, 7 left, then 1, 9, 9, 0 right. That combination of course is referencing the years 1977 when the first Rescuers came out and 1990 when The Rescuers Down Under came out.
