Vera June Miles (née Ralston) is a retired American actress, who appeared in various Disney films, like The Wild Country, Those Calloways, Follow Me, Boys!, and A Tiger Walks.
Miles was born in Boise City, Oklahoma but moved to Kansas later on. She graduated from Wichita North High School in 1947 while also working nights as a Western Union operator-typist. She was also crowned Miss Kansas in 1948 and was the third runner-up in the Miss America contest.
After moving to Los Angeles in 1950, she landed small roles in television and film before landing a part in the 1955 film Tarzan's Hidden Jungle as Tarzan's love interest. The following year, she was cast by director John Ford as Jeffrey Hunter's love interest in the John Wayne Western The Searchers. She most recognized role is that of Lila Crane in the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock thriller Psycho and she would reprise the role in Psycho II. Her other film credits include 23 Paces to Baker Street, Autumn Leaves, The Wrong Man, A Touch of Larceny, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Sergeant Ryker, Molly and Lawless John, Hellfighters, The Green Berets, and Separate Lives.
She also appeared in television shows, like Riverboat, Rawhide, Wagon Train, The Twilight Zone, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Fugitive, The Virginian, Insight, The Outer Limits, Burke's Law, My Three Sons, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Bonanza, The Name of the Game, Ironside, Gunsmoke, Medical Center, Hawaii Five-O, Columbo, The Streets of San Francisco, Barnaby Jones, Fantasy Island, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Love Boat, Little House on the Prairie, Hotel, and Murder, She Wrote.
