Vinessa Elizabeth Shaw is an American actress, who, for Disney, played Meredith Reed in the ABC television show The Torkelsons, Allison in Hocus Pocus, Agent Kate Russo in the 2001 Touchstone Pictures film Corky Romano, and Nicole in the 2002 Miramax film 40 Days and 40 Nights.
Vinessa Elizabeth Shaw was born on July 19, 1976, in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Larry Shaw and actress Susan Damante and the older sister of actress Natalie Shaw. Her name, Vinessa, spelled with an "i" rather than the common "a", was a variation of her grandfather's name, Vincent. She made her first formal performance in a UCLA acting camp short at age 10, and subsequently toured with children's folk singer Peter Alsop at age 11. She also worked for the Elite Models agency in 1989 before beginning her acting career.
Shaw had made her film debut in the 1981 slasher film Home Sweet Home, which led to roles in films, like Ladybugs, Eyes Wide Shut, The Weight of Water, Melinda and Melinda, The Hills Have Eyes (2006), 3:10 to Yuma (2007), Side Effects, Garden Party, and Two Lovers.
Her television credits include The Torkelsons, Fallen Angels, McKenna, Murder, She Wrote, New York Undercover, House, CSI: NY, Ray Donovan, and Great Scott!.
