Walt Disney Giant and its companion title Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse were the first comic books that Gladstone made to self covered comic books since Gladstone's first run. Unfortunately, due to the prestige format of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, Walt Disney Giant and Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse had to be cancelled after their 7th issues (though there has been some speculation that Walt Disney Giant was cancelled due to budget cuts).

Walt Disney Giant was later replaced by Walt Disney's Comics and Stories Penny Pincher.
