Walt Disney Productions France, S.A., was a motion picture distributor located in Champs-Élysées in Paris that handled the distribution of Disney films in France from July 1963 to December 1987. It was formed after Disney's contract with Athos Films, then the latest film distributor of Disney films in France, ended.[1]
In April 1963, Walt Disney Mickey Mouse, S.A., was formed. With Jean Tomachot as director, it assumed control of the production of all Disney films in France, starting with the 1963-1964 season. They were initially recorded at the National Centre of Cinematography and Animated Pictures.[2]
In the 1980s, Walt Disney Productions France also distributed several French-made Disney television shows, including Salut les Mickey (the French equivalent of The Mickey Mouse Club) and Le Disney Channel, both of which ran on France's TF1 network.
