"We Check In to C.C.'s Spa and Resort" is the thirteenth episode of the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It was released on December 31, 2025, and is the fifth episode of season two.
Synopsis[]
Percy and Annabeth must confront their flaws at a resort sanctuary.
Plot[]
Percy and Annabeth awaken in what looks like a spa room and grow concerned that Tyson and Clarisse are not with them. Shortly afterwards, they meet Hylla, who reveals that they are in the care of C.C.'s Spa & Resort, a sanctuary headed by the sorceress Circe, who has since claimed to have had turned over a new leaf. The spa is across from a beach that is inhabited by Sirens with Circe claiming that she "trains" people so that they can easily escape, though some who are too eager to leave end up succumbing to the Sirens' songs.
Elsewhere, Clarisse awakens on a beach and discovers that she is on Polyphemus's island. She is immediately captured by the gigantic cyclops and taken to his cave. She reunites with Grover who, due to his empath link, is able to tell her that Percy and Annabeth are alive, despite her belief otherwise. She attempts to get the Fleece, which is dangling from an oak tree, but falls and gets knocked unconscious. While Grover is able to hide her body, Polyphemus finally sees through Grover's cyclops bride disguise.
Percy and Annabeth are cleaned up with Circe promising to help them with their problems by finding their "fatal flaw". Using Circe's mirror, Percy is able to see that his fatal flaw is that he is too willing to give up his own life and goals to help those around him. Percy is disturbed by this and admits to Annabeth that he probably would destroy Olympus for his friends if he is forced to do so.
Later, Percy examines the statues of the six who managed to make it pass the Sirens, only to be told by one of Circe's assistants, Zadie, that every time she loses faith in escaping (she has been at the spa for 50 years), someone manages to escape. Percy confronts Circe who admits that while she loves to help people, her fatal flaw is that she won't stop helping because that means they will leave her isolated island once they are through with her. Percy insists that she allow Annabeth to leave the island to finish the journey, but she instead turns him into a guinea pig and cages him with her other caged animals.
Clarisse discovers that Polyphemus has Grover locked away who ask that he help free him from a cupboard. She admits that she has doubted herself and her inability to save her ironclad crew and believes that her prophecy is that she is meant to die in the cave due to not having solid support with her. When Grover says that Ares will have "mercy" on her, she realizes too late that Grover has been gagged this whole time and Polyphemus (who has faked his ineptitude this whole time) is well aware that Percy and Annabeth are on their way and captures her.
Annabeth goes to see Circe in an effort to get help from her, but thanks to Percy's powers, she figures out that he has been turned into a guinea pig and frees him by feeding him, and the other guinea pigs, Hermes's vitamins. Percy and other transformed prisoners (who are all revealed to be pirates lead by Blackbeard) lay waste to the resort while Percy and Annabeth flee with a jar of wax to get passed the Sirens.
Percy and Annabeth steal a boat and flee with the wax, of which is their unfortunately only enough for one. Annabeth resolves to tie Percy to the mast, only for Circe to use her magic to yank the jar back to her. Annabeth confronts the Sirens head on and has a vision of an arguing Percy, Luke, and Grover asking her for her wisdom. She apparently sees through the illusion and kills two of the Sirens, only for the third to be killed by her mother Athena. This whole scenario turns out to be an illusion, but Percy rescues her at the last minute.
As they sail away, Annabeth concludes that her fatal flaw is her hubris as she considers herself to be smarter than others and able to outwit those. Percy commends her for being a brave demigod before realizing that they have finally arrived at Polyphemus's island.

Book comparisons[]
- In the book, Percy and Annabeth awaken in a boat before they are brought to the island, while the series has them already awaken at the spa.
- Circe hides her identity in the book before revealing her true self, while the series has her not only admit who she is from the beginning, but claim that she has changed for the better, though she is of course revealed to have selfish motives.
- The people at the spa are dressed in traditional Greek attire, while the book implies that everyone is dressed in more modern clothing.
- The spa in the book had a horse stable. This was removed in the series.
- Circe had all the men that arrived be turned into animals almost right away. The series has her allowing all people, regardless of gender, walk around freely. It is only when they act out of line, that she transforms them into animals.
- Annabeth's makeover was done in an effort to keep her enticed on the island. In the series, both Annabeth and Percy get makeovers simply due to Circe's eccentricities.
- In the book, Circe told Annabeth what she had done to Percy in an effort to get her to side with her. In the series, Annabeth figures it out on her own.
- In the book, Annabeth mentions that Blackbeard is the son of Ares. This is not brought up in the show.
- Percy and Annabeth steal Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge, but in the series, they take a simple sailing vessel.
- Right outside Circe's spa is a bay where the Sirens sit and await. In the book, Percy and Annabeth sail for a couple of days before they reach the island of the Sirens. They even pass an island where one of Hephaestus's iron works is.
- In the book, Percy patches his ears with wax while he ties Annabeth to the mast, who insists that she hears the Sirens. In the series, they mention needing a specific kind of wax, which Circe has, only for it to be magically brought back to her. Percy is tied up while Annabeth allows herself to listen to the Sirens.
- In the series, Annabeth's visions include seeing Percy, Luke, and Grover asking for her advice, followed by Athena commending her for her intelligence. In the book, Annabeth's vision was of herself having a picnic with Luke, her father Frederick, and Athena watching over a rebuilt Manhattan.
- Clarisse and Grover's interaction was witnessed by Percy and Annabeth in the book. The series has it be a separate event.
Trivia[]
- The title comes from the twelfth chapter of The Sea of Monsters, while the episode adapts that chapter and chapter thirteen and additionally borrows elements from chapter fourteen.
- Leah Sava Jeffries cried after filming the infamous siren scene with Walker Scobell, because, as she described it, the scene was very intense to film.[1]
- Some of the moments in the siren scene were improvised by Leah Sava Jeffries and Walker Scobell.[2]
- One of the sirens was portrayed by Walker Scobell's season one stunt double, Cassandra Ebner.[3]
- The guinea pigs were real and the one who was Percy in that form was named Vanilla.[4]
- Circe tells Percy that he may be forced to do great evil or sacrifice something important to save a friend. This comes true in the following episode as Percy is forced to give Luke the Golden Fleece to save Annabeth, even though it means sacrificing the quest.
