"Weird Delivery 2: Return to Pretendo Time" is the second segment of the fifty-fourth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Kiff and Barry play Pretendo Time.
Plot[]
While watching TV at the Buns residence, Kiff and Barry see an ad for the virtual reality video game Pretendo Time. Wanting to play it, Kiff and Barry visit Reggie at his house to see if he might have the game, which he does. When they ask him if they can try out Pretendo Time, however, Reggie replies that they already have – in a simulation he ran in Reggie's World, his own modded version of the game. He invites them inside to see it for themselves, then boots up Reggie's World and loads his archived simulation of the duo playing Reggie's World within Reggie's World itself. Kiff and Barry spend the next 11 minutes watching the simulation and are shocked by how realistic it is. After taking off their VR headsets, Kiff and Barry wonder if they may still be inside a simulation. Reggie, amused by their reaction, jokes that even he does not know.
Later, while walking through downtown Table Town, Kiff and Barry continue to consider the possibility that they are still inside Reggie's World. While scrutinizing the reality of their surroundings, they walk into Rob Sadly's Mattresses, where they decide to tear open a mattress to confirm that it is a real mattress filled with stuffing, and not just one of Reggie's programmed assets. When Rob catches them doing this, they examine him as well to verify that he is also real. Realizing what Kiff and Barry are doing, Rob reveals that he shares their suspicion and shows them a video by an online conspiracy theorist named Ellis Gert Griswold, who claims that the world is merely a simulation.
Now convinced that they are inside a simulation, Kiff and Barry conclude that since nothing is real, they are free to do whatever they want. After a spree of mischief around Table Town, they walk by a lake, where some teenagers are watching Danny Wibbon make a daring high dive into the lake from a rope swing atop a tree. Kiff and Barry climb up the tree to do the same, alarming Danny, who points out that no middle schoolers have ever accomplished this feat. This causes the duo to have second thoughts about making the dive. Wanting to confirm beforehand that the simulation they believe they are in will work as expected, Kiff and Barry tell the teenagers that they will dive the following day instead.
Kiff and Barry visit Reggie and ask him to program a safe rope swing experience for them, and he agrees. The next day, Kiff and Barry return to the lake to make the dive. Just as they are about to dive, Reggie arrives and excitedly tells them that he has finished the simulation they requested, then holds out his tablet to show them a glitchy, crudely-rendered simulation of Kiff and Barry making the dive, then jetting off into the sky in a speedboat with Reggie. No longer convinced that they are in a simulation, Kiff and Barry decide to abandon the dive. While climbing down the tree, they are booed by the disappointed teenagers, causing them to become disoriented and lose their balance. Instead of falling, however, Kiff and Barry find themselves floating in mid-air, and they realize they are indeed in Reggie's World.
The scene zooms out, revealing that the entire episode up to this point was merely a simulation being watched by Reggie, who is playing Reggie's World in his room, while Kiff and Barry wait for their turn to play. Unexpectedly, Rob is then revealed to be present as well, and he questions why he is in Reggie's room if they are not actually in a simulation. Seeing this, the children begin to panic. The scene then zooms out again, revealing that the scene is playing on a laptop sitting on a desk, in an environment animated in the same crude CGI style as Reggie's rope swing simulation. A hand presses a key on the laptop, and the words "The End?" appear on the screen.
