"What Dreams Are Made Of" is a song that was recorded for The Lizzie McGuire Movie. A ballad version, sung by Paolo Valisari (Yani Gellman) and Isabella Parigi (Haylie Duff, singing voice), was used by Paolo and Lizzie McGuire (Hilary Duff) during their rehearsal for the International Music Video Awards, where Lizzie has to lip-synch Isabella's singing. At the IMVA, Lizzie and Paolo are singing the song, after Lizzie has been informed by Isabella and David Gordon that Paolo is using Lizzie as a setup to ruin Isabella's singing career by making people think Isabella is terrible at singing. For Lizzie, Isabella and Gordo to get back at Paolo, Isabella sings through a headset while Lizzie is lip-synching, and Gordo turns Paolo's microphone on to convince the audience that Paolo is the one who cannot sing well. To liven things up a bit, Isabella introduces Lizzie to the audience, and the two of them perform an upbeat version of the song. After the first chorus, Isabella leaves the stage to let Lizzie sing the rest of the song solo.
