William Hall Macy, Jr. is an American actor, screenwriter, teacher, and theater director. He is perhaps best known for his role as Frank Gallagher in the Showtime drama series Shameless (2011-2021). He also voiced Lefty Maginnis in the 2006 Fox animated film Everyone's Hero.
For Disney, he played Railroad Magnate in Tall Tale, Vice Principal Gene Wolters in the 1995 Hollywood Pictures film Mr. Holland's Opus, James Gordon in the 1998 Touchstone Pictures film A Civil Action, and Dudley Frank in Wild Hogs. He also voiced Satomi in The Wind Rises and will portray a to-be-confirmed character in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
He is also the husband of Felicity Huffman.
