Wimbleweather is a character who appears in the 2008 Disney/Walden Media adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.
Background[]
Wimbleweather is a giant who is one of the Old Narnians who fought against the Telmarine Army. He is shown to use a club that he uses as a weapon which he carries alongside. Not much of his personality is known as he does not speak much aside from helping support the Old Narnian army.
Role in the film[]
Wimbleweather is first seen attending the meeting with the Old Narnians at the Dancing Lawn. Trufflehunter sarcastically asked Nikabrik suggesting him to bring the White Witch back to life to fight off the Telmarines during the meeting at the Dancing Lawn while suggesting to send Caspian to fight against Aslan. However, Wimbleweather raises his club and disagreed with this, just before Caspian brings in a plan to give the Narnians their kingdom back by bringing in peace between the Narnians and Telmarines.
Later, Miraz uses a spyglass where he sees Edmund, Glenstorm, and Wimbleweather walking from a distance, just as he tells Glozelle that they intend to surrender, just before the latter two are outside a Telmarine tent where Peter is delivering a proposal to Miraz. During the battle against the Telmarines after Sopespian blamed the Narnians for murdering Miraz (who in fact was the one who killed him), Caspian tells the surviving Narnians inside Aslan's How to charge against the Telmarines and as they get closer, he tells the Narnians to smash the pillars within the cavern to create a pit to cause the Telmarines to fall within. Throughout the battle, Wimbleweather smashes a pillar with his club, just as the other Narnians smash more pillars within, causing the ground above to open and form a pit, while the Telmarine cavalary begins to fall into the pit. Wimbleweather is later seen tossing a Telmarine onto the pit just before Aslan arrives to help end the battle between Telmarines and Narnians, resulting in victory for the Narnians.
Video game appearances[]
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian[]
In the console versions of Prince Caspian, Wimbleweather is introduced in the "Assault Miraz's Castle" level towards the half part of the level where the player must use him to smash the barricades blocking the path. In order to use him, the player must have Tyrus ride on him to do so. Just like any other playable giant, Wimbleweather would occasionally be tied up in certain situations where Telmarines are present, so the player must fight off the soldiers tying him up with ropes in order to save him. The player must also use him to pull a pillar while getting help from Peter who is telling Tyrus to help him.
Wimbleweather later appears again in the final level of the game, "Battle of Beruna" where the player as a minotaur must use him to smash the pillars to cause a sinkhole forming a pit within a time limit. If the player runs out of time, they will need to restart the checkpoint where they left off. Upon doing so, the player finds themself at Beruna riding on Wimbleweather where they must use him to rescue Caspian and Glenstorm within a time limit. The player must defeat at least forty soldiers shown on a small soldier counter next to the timer by using Wimbleweather; doing so triggers a battle against Glozelle.
Differences from source material[]
- Unlike in the book, Wimbleweather's position as a marshal was filled in by Edmund who takes over his role in the film, whereas the real Wimbleweather was seen with the Old Narnians smashing the pillars at Aslan's How to cause a massive pit to sink the Telmarine cavalry.
- Every mention to Wimbleweather's home, Deadman's Hill, from the original Prince Caspian book was omitted in the film.
