Winnie the Pooh's Home Run Derby (Japanese: くまのプーさんのホームランダービー Hepburn: Kuma no Pū-san no Hōmuran Dābī) is a 2010 Japanese Flash baseball video game published at the Walt Disney Pictures website.
Gameplay[]
The player controls Pooh in order to defeat his eight friends (Eeyore, Lumpy, Piglet, Kanga & Roo, Rabbit, Owl, Tigger and Christopher Robin) in a baseball match. Each character pitches differently and each stage increases in difficulty and improbability. The stages require a certain number of successful hits to proceed forward. Points counted at the end of a match can be used to purchase upgrades to improve Pooh's speed, accuracy, and power.
Eeyore throws a basic pitch with his hind legs. Requires 3/10 hits to defeat.
Lumpy waves his trunk as he pitches to throw you off from where it comes out. Requires 5/15 hits to defeat.
Piglet has an incredibly sharp fastball. Requires 8/20 hits to defeat.
Kanga and Roo's ball quickly bounces along the ground. Requires 12/25 hits to defeat.
Rabbit's ball changes speed in mid-air, coming out slow before speeding up. Requires 15/30 hits to defeat.
Owl pitches balls in a zig-zagging motion that commonly results in foul balls. Requires 19/35 hits to defeat.
Tigger's balls turn invisible in mid-air. Requires 28/40 hits to defeat.
Christopher Robin uses all the pitching techniques at random, making it impossible to find a consistent pattern. Requires 40/50 hits to defeat.
Reception and Legacy[]
The game found a cult following in early 2013, and became a viral hit due to its extreme difficulty, despite obviously being made for children. Later on, an English version was found on Disney's own websites. With the planned discontinuation of Flash support across all major internet browsers, the Japanese site announced that Home Run Derby would go down at the end of December 2020.
