Kiff and the crew learn magic but end up in over their heads.
Plot[]
At the tram station, Kiff and Barry are waiting to take a tram car to Table Town Middle School. When the tram arrives and its doors fail to open, a wizard named Ed assists the duo by casting a spell to open the doors. Aboard the tram, Ed is outraged to learn from Kiff and Barry that they are not taught magic at school, noting that without proper "wiz-ed", children could end up irresponsibly learning about magic online instead. Excited by the prospect of becoming magicians, Kiff and Barry suggest that Ed should become their magic teacher. Agreeing to the idea, Ed flies himself, Kiff, and Barry straight to Principal Secretary's office, where the three successfully convince Principal Secretary to hire Ed.
Ed's first class is disrupted by a jealous Helen, who feels that there is only room for one magical teacher in the school. After Kiff escorts Helen out of the classroom, Ed gives the students their first lesson, teaching them how to use their wands to lift a sponge into the air. Trevor then asks Ed to teach the class how to move a sponge around in a circle. Although initially hesitant, given that Trevor's request requires a more advanced spell, Ed agrees, though not before warning that some spells "come at a great cost".
Later at his house, Trevor demonstrates to Kiff and Barry the reason for his earlier request: to use the spell to easily wash dishes for extra allowance. Inspired by Trevor's idea, Kiff and Barry, and soon all their other classmates, get Ed to teach them various spells, which they then use to get chores done for more allowance. One day, Ed arrives to class to find the students counting their money, and his offer to teach them more spells is turned down. In response, Ed reveals that he knows the students have been using his lessons to make money doing chores, and that since magic is proprietary, he is legally entitled to their earnings. After casting a spell to collect all their money, he teleports the students away to the cafeteria. Trevor consults a book on wizard law and confirms that not only is Ed's claim valid, but that the students now owe him all their future allowances in perpetuity.
In the cafeteria, Helen chastises the students for ignoring her supposed warnings about Ed being a con man, but they point out that she never warned them about anything. Nevertheless, after returning to the classroom and finding that Ed has escaped with their money, Kiff and her friends are forced to grovel to Helen in exchange for her help in dealing with Ed. Helen drives the children to the tram station, where they find Ed decked in jewelry and getting ready to skip town. Helen challenges Ed to a magical duel, only to retreat when Ed deflects her opening spell. Using the very first spell Ed taught them, however, Kiff, Barry, Trevor, Renée, Candle, and Reggie levitate sponges from houses all over Table Town into the sky and use the sponges to subdue Ed, while also causing him to drop all his "swag". Helen returns to cast the finishing spell, pushing Ed into a tram car and sending the tram away.
Instead of taking Ed's jewelry to a pawnshop to get Kiff and her friends their money back, Helen keeps it all for herself, noting that she only promised to get the money back, not to return it to the children. She leaves them behind at the tram station and drives off, but immediately drives her car into the ocean, where the jewelry is taken by a dolphin.
Ed comments that he teaches "all about the wonderful world of wizardry", which Principal Secretary compares to "that movie Schoolboy Wizard", referencing the Harry Potter film series and extended Wizarding World franchise.
The instrumental that soundtracks Ed's dance is based on the 1979 Lipps Inc.song "Funkytown".
