Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is a Disney+ and Disney Channel comedy series, which is a revival/sequel of Wizards of Waverly Place. The series stars Janice LeAnn Brown, David Henrie, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Mimi Gianopulos and Taylor Cora. The series is created by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who also serve as executive produce. Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Gary Marsh, and Andy Fickman are also set to executive produce.[2][3]
The series premiered on the Disney Channel on October 29, 2024 and on Disney+ on October 30, 2024.[4]
Synopsis
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), Roman (Alkaio Thiele), and Milo (Max Matenko). When Justin's sister Alex brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.

Production
On January 18, 2024, Deadline reported that a sequel series to Wizards of Waverly Place was in active development for Disney Channel, with Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprising their roles. Gomez would star in the pilot episode, while the series would primarily focus on Justin Russo. Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos also joined the cast as Billie, Roman, and Giada Russo.[2] Filming for the pilot began on January 31, 2024 and concluded on February 2, 2024.[6][7][8] Production on Season 1 began on May 14, 2024.
