Zachary Levi Pugh, known professionally as Zachary Levi, is an American actor and and singer, who is best known for his roles as Chuck Bartowski in the NBC action comedy/spy-drama series Chuck (2007-2012) and the titular character of the DC Extended Universe films: Shazam! and its 2023 sequel (in tandem with Asher Angel, who played Levi's alter ego Billy Batson). He also portrayed Toby Seville in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, and voiced Joseph in the 2017 Sony Pictures animated biblical comedy film The Star. He later played Harold in the 2024 Columbia Pictures film Harold and the Purple Crayon.

For Disney, he is known for voicing Flynn Rider in the 2010 Disney animated feature film Tangled and reprised this role in most of the character's appearances, including the video game of the same name, Tangled Ever After, the television series of the same name, and Kingdom Hearts III. He also played Fandral in the 2013 film Thor: The Dark World and in the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok (replacing Josh Dallas). Additionally, he voiced Larry Daley in Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (replacing Ben Stiller).

Trivia[]

  • Levi was the first choice to play Fandral in the first film Thor, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with Chuck. Ironically, he was finally able to assume the role in the sequel when Josh Dallas, who played the role in the first film, was unable to reprise it due to conflicts with his own series Once Upon a Time.
  • Part of the reason why Levi accepted the role of Flynn Rider was so that he could be in a Kingdom Hearts game someday, which would not be fulfilled until Kingdom Hearts III.
  • He and his wife were divorced on April 1, 2015.
  • Levi revealed in 2019 that he would reprise his role as Flynn Rider in a live-action remake.[1] He even said that he wouldn't want anyone else to voice Flynn Rider.
